Bobcats record wins
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats defeated Tuckerman 15-5 in 2A-2 Conference baseball action on March 18 at Tuckerman.
Trailing 5-4, Walnut Ridge took the lead with four runs in the fourth inning. The Bobcats added a run in the fifth inning, and put the game away with six runs in the seventh.
Layne Ditto pitched five scoreless innings in relief for Walnut Ridge, allowing four hits and recording four strikeouts.
Cole Hicks led the Bobcats at the plate, with three hits, including a three-run home run in the fourth inning, and finished with five RBIs. Eric Wilcoxson had two hits and scored four runs. He also had four stolen bases. Zach Crisler, Payton Poole, Lane Kennedy and Rowdy Ditto each had two hits.
Walnut Ridge improved to 2-0 in conference play and 7-4 overall.
The Bobcats played two games in the Xtra Innings Classic at Jonesboro on Thursday before weather forced the cancellation of the remainder of the tournament.
Walnut Ridge defeated Trumann and Marked Tree in games played at Westside School.
Range Weeks' two-run single in the seventh inning gave the Bobcats a 4-2 victory over Trumann. Hicks had a pair of doubles in the contest.
Baron Estes started on the mound and allowed the Wildcats just two runs on three hits in a complete-game victory. He also rang up seven strikeouts.
Walnut Ridge's bats produced 11 hits in a 17-7 victory over the Marked Tree Indians.
Hicks had three hits, three RBIs and scored four runs. Crisler and Hunter Flippo each finished with two hits and three RBIs. Ditto and Kennedy each had two hits.
Weeks earned the win on the mound to improve his record to 4-0 on the season. He allowed seven runs on six hits, while recording three strikeouts.
