WR baseball has busy week
The Walnut Ridge Bobcat baseball team traveled to Little Rock on Saturday to play games against Genoa Central and Horatio.
The Bobcats dropped a 7-5 decision to Genoa Central.
Baron Estes started on the mound for the Cats and allowed four runs on four hits while registering eight strikeouts in five innings of work. Ryan Vaughn pitched the final two innings, allowing three runs on two hits with three strikeouts.
Zach Crisler, Hunter Flippo and Cole Hicks each had two hits and an RBI.
Walnut Ridge defeated the Horatio Lions 11-1.
Vaughn pitched three innings to earn the win on the mound, allowing one run on one hit while striking out three batters.
Offensively for the Bobcats, Flippo had three hits and drove in four runs. Hicks had three hits and two RBIs. Lane Kennedy had two hits and three RBIs.
An eight-run first inning would be more than enough to lift Walnut Ridge to a 15-0 shutout victory over the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds on Friday at Stewart Park.
Starting pitcher Range Weeks held the Greyhounds to two hits and had four strikeouts in the three-inning contest.
At the plate, Weeks, Flippo, Crisler and Cash Lee each had two hits for Walnut Ridge. Lane Kennedy had one hit and three RBIs, and Eric Wilcoxson added a two-run homer.
The Walnut Ridge offense was in high gear Thursday as the Bobcats hammered Cotter 15-0 in a four-inning game at Stewart Park.
Flippo had four hits, including a home run, and four RBIs for the Cats. Wilcoxson had two doubles and a triple and drove in three runs. Kennedy had two hits and four RBIs. Lee and Payton Poole each had two hits.
Crisler started on the mound and allowed one hit and struck out seven.
