Hillcrest teams compete at state
The Hillcrest boys and girls senior high basketball teams made the long trip to Bradley to compete in the 1A State Tournament last week.
Twenty-four hours after winning the regional tournament on their home floor at Lynn, the Hillcrest boys faced KIPP Delta in a first-round contest. The game was close in the first half, with the Screamin' Eagles leading 17-14 after the first quarter and 30-25 at the intermission.
Hillcrest began to pull away in the second half, stretching the lead to 48-35 after three quarters en route to a 64-50 win. KIPP had no answer for Colman Evans, who finished with 43 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles.
Hoxie boys end season at stateThe Hoxie Mustangs basketball season ended with a 66-45 loss to Harding Academy in the first round of the 3A State Tournament on Feb. 26 in Searcy.continued...
