Problems from ice storm minimal

While Lawrence County suffered some ill effects from freezing rain that fell on Thursday, those who recall the ice storm of 2009 would call it a walk in the park.

Mayor House gives State of City Address

"We begin 2013 with brightened prospects as we start the slow process of what we hope is economic recovery in our nation," Walnut Ridge Mayor Don House said in his State of the City Address distributed at the February city council meeting.

WR obtains grant for water park,
ballpark improvements announced

The city of Walnut Ridge made two announcements Thursday regarding plans for improvements at Stewart Park. Mayor Don House announced that the city has received approval for a $125,000 grant to create a water park by upgrading the existing city pool and adding a splash pad.
