Fourth-seeded Hoxie got 27 points from Colton Watson, as the Mustangs defeated Earle 77-62 in the boys final of the 3A-3 District Tournament Saturday night at The Hoxie Mustang Gymnasium.
Hoxie led 21-11 at the end of the first quarter, 36-30 at halftime and 55-48 after three periods.
Jacob Defries scored 20 points, and Tristan Privett added 19 for the Mustangs.
Hoxie will host the 3A Region 3 Tournament, which gets underway this afternoon. The Hoxie boys will play Valley Springs tonight at 8:30.
BR basketball season endsThe senior high basketball seasons came to an end for Black Rock last week, as the Zebras and Lady Zebras suffered defeats in the 1A-3 East District Tournament at Bay.
WR boys are district runners-upThe senior high basketball teams from Walnut Ridge and Sloan-Hendrix competed in the 2A-2 District Tournament last week at Pangburn.
Hillcrest girls win district titleHillcrest's senior boys and girls basketball teams reached their respective finals in the 1A-2 North District Tournament last week at Mammoth Spring.
Wilcoxson signs with
Walnut Ridge High School senior Eric Wilcoxson has now ensured his prospects of continuing his baseball career beyond high school. He has signed a letter of intent and athletic scholarship agreement to play baseball for the Raiders of Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
