Braden Watson, Hoxie High School's assistant boys basketball coach, helps his son, Noah, cut a section of the net following the Mustangs' victory in the championship game of the District 3A-3 Tournament at Hoxie. The Hillcrest Lady Screamin' Eagles also claimed their district title, and the Walnut Ridge and Hillcrest senior boys teams finished with runners-up honors. All four teams, as well as the Walnut Ridge senior girls team, have qualified for their respective regional tournaments, which begin tonight.

Lake Charles area suffers storm damage

A storm system that moved through Lawrence County Monday night included strong winds, but for most in the county the weather did not reach severe levels.

In his "State of the City" address Hoxie Mayor Lanny Tinker said the city will be "facing some challenges in the future" and listed several issues that needed to be addressed in the coming months.

WR Council conflicted over
hazardous driving ordinance

Walnut Ridge City Councilmen began the process of passing a hazardous driving city ordinance and discussed the need for a new garbage truck for the city at their regular meeting on Feb. 12.

Snapps attending Travel South Showcase

The Downtown Walnut Ridge organization and the Lawrence County Tourism Committee is hoping for a boost from an event going on in Little Rock this week. Charles and Jackie Snapp of Walnut Ridge are representing the two organizations, as well as the Ozark Gateway Tourist Council, at the Travel South Showcase.
