Hillcrest outlasts

The Hillcrest Screamin' Eagles outlasted Calico Rock for a 59-57 victory in 1A-2 North senior boys basketball action on Friday at Lynn.

After playing to a 14-14 tie in the first quarter, Hillcrest was able to take a 32-27 advantage into halftime and entered the fourth quarter with a 40-37 lead.

Colman Evans led three Screamin' Eagles in double figures, with a game-high 25 points. Zach Doyle added 15 points, and Jeremiah Turner had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Hillcrest boys improved to 5-2 in conference play and 19-4 overall.

Girls

Lindsey Crews scored 23 points to lead the Lady Screamin' Eagles over Calico Rock 56-41.

Hillcrest was able to keep the Lady Pirates at bay for most of the contest, leading 18-9 after one quarter, 27-18 at halftime and 42-34 at the end of the third period.

Caitlin Whitmire added nine points for Hillcrest, which upped its record to 12-9 overall and 4-3 in the 1A-2 North conference.

Calico Rock won a junior girls game 44-10.
