'A Winter Dream'
offers timeless truths
"A Winter Dream" is a 2012 novel by Richard Paul Evans, best-selling author of "The Christmas Box," as well as more than a dozen others. "A Winter Dream" is a modern-day story based on the retelling of the biblical story of Joseph and the coat of many colors.
Set in the present-day cities of Denver, Chicago and New York City, a compelling story line makes it easy to forget that the story parallels the story in Genesis. As in the biblical story, "A Winter Dream" is about family and forgiveness.
The story also reminds us that adversity is part of the journey, not something to be avoided. What appears to be a difficult path may be the only path that can lead to a successful ending, much greater than one might imagine.
"The Christmas Box" was already one of our favorite Christmas movies, and I recommend Evans' latest novel as an excellent read this holiday or any time. Thanks to a friend for sharing this book with us.
Speaking of thanks, as 2012 comes to an end, it is again a privilege to thank you, our readers, advertisers and contributors. The support of each of you, along with the efforts of our capable and dedicated staff, is what makes your local newspaper possible.
With "A Winter Dream" in mind, may the coming year further you on a personal journey that ultimately leads to success and joy beyond your fondest dreams.
