Bobcats slam Tuckerman
The Walnut Ridge Bobcats ran out to an early double-digit lead en route to a 64-36 victory over Tuckerman in senior boys basketball action Friday night at Sharum Gymnasium.
Walnut Ridge led 17-5 after one quarter, 34-15 at halftime and 57-25 after three periods.
Matt Cox led the Bobcats with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Zach Crisler finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Range Weeks had 11 points, and Eric Wilcoxson added 10 points.
The win lifted the Bobcats to 4-1 in 2A-2 conference play and 4-1 overall.
In girls action, Tuckerman edged Walnut Ridge 54-51.
Tuckerman led 11-7 after one quarter, 23-16 at halftime and 36-28 after three periods.
Walnut Ridge's Allyson McQuay led all scorers with 18 points, including 15 points in the second half on five three-pointers. Caroline Kelley added 12 points for the Lady Bobcats.
Walnut Ridge traveled to Judsonia to face White County Central on Dec. 11.
In senior boys action, Zach Crisler scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter to spark the Bobcats to a 48-44 victory.
The Cats led 20-18 after one quarter, but fell behind 29-26 at the end of the half and trailed 36-31 after three quarters.
The Lady Bobcats defeated WCC 64-20. Tiye Flowers and Audrey McElrath each scored 11 points for Walnut Ridge.
The Walnut Ridge junior high boys defeated WCC 37-20.
Walnut Ridge led 13-6 after one period, 21-11 at halftime and 32-15 after three quarters.
Spencer Wilson and Martin Crisler each had 13 points for the junior Cats.
The Walnut Ridge junior high boys defeated Hillcrest 40-20 on Thursday.
The Bobcats trailed 14-11 after one quarter, but held Hillcrest to one point over the next two periods to take a 32-15 lead into the final quarter.
Wilson led Walnut Ridge with 12 points, while Crisler and Luke Harper added eight points apiece.
The Walnut Ridge seventh-grade boys defeated Pocahontas 32-20 on Dec. 12.
Walnut Ridge led 6-3 at the end of the first period, 16-8 at halftime and 22-17 after three quarters.
Guy Lemmons scored 12 points, and Tristan Hoffman added 10 for Walnut Ridge.
