approved
Hoxie councilmen adopted Ordinance 2012-3 at the Dec. 11 meeting, which puts floodplain management measures in place to comply with federal regulations. The regulations are available at city hall for anyone wishing to review them.
Mayor Lanny Tinker also reported that the city's water and sewer infrastructure is stabilizing and there has been slow but steady progress in city cleanup efforts.
Progress is also being made in a long-term solution to correct several ongoing city rezoning issues.
Tinker informed the council that no reduction in city services or layoff of city employees is anticipated.
It was announced that city offices will be closed on Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.
The mayor and council discussed recent holiday activities. They thanked those who worked to make Dickens In The Park and the Hoxie Christmas parade a success.
They also congratulated Ray and Nova Dobbs, who served as Mr. and Mrs. Merry Christmas for 2012.
The council commended the street department staff as well as city businesses for their contributions to gift baskets. They also expressed appreciation to businesses, organizations and individuals for monetary donations to fund the event.
Council members thanked Sheriff Jody Dotson and the county inmates who were assigned to Hoxie for their help with the projects.
