WR players receive
Sixteen members of the Walnut Ridge senior high football team have received postseason honors for their play during the 2012 season.
Eric Wilcoxson, Zach Crisler and Rowdy Ditto were named to the 2A All-State team, while three players - Hunter Flippo, Tyler Clement and Cole Hicks - received Honorable Mention All-State honors.
Ditto was also selected to play in the All-Star football game next summer.
The All-State honorees and several other Bobcats were also recognized by the 2A-3 Conference.
The following is a list of players receiving honors, along with a quote by head coach Larry Treadway.
Eric Wilcoxson, senior - "Great high school career. The best description of Eric is he wants to be the guy at bat when the count is 3 and 2, with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth in the World Series. He brought his A game every day to practice.
Zach Crisler, senior - "A Friday night game changer. He makes everyone want to play harder. Zach is extremely competitive in all sports, and expects to win. His enthusiasm is contagious."
Rowdy Ditto, senior - "Big, strong, smart and athletic. He could have played several positions. Rowdy never missed a day of practice in five years. He will always bleed orange."
All-State Honorable Mention
Hunter Flippo, senior - "He should do a glue commercial - footballs stick to his hands. When you need to move the chains, he's your guy."
Tyler Clement, senior - "A defensive back's biggest nightmare. Tyler does a great job of running between the tackles. Nothing was easy for Tyler. He had to work for everything."
Cole Hicks, junior - "Attitude, attitude, attitude. Cole is always up for practice and games. Kids feed off him. He had a great junior season."
Logan Brady, senior - "He looks like Clark Kent, played like Superman. Logan is more aggressive than what meets the eye. He loves to trap."
Hunter Ingram, senior - "Never complains, always dependable. I cannot remember three bad snaps in four years. He always got the job done."
Tyler Binkley, sophomore - "He has great speed and a desire to please his coaches and teammates. Tyler made some big plays."
Cason McQuay, senior - "The lights came on in the spring of his junior year. Cason is strong and aggressive. He had a great senior year."
Levi Lewis, junior - "Very aggressive and very fast. Levi loves the weight room. He's going to be a good one."
Ryan Vaughn, senior - "A smart, intelligent, savvy player. Ryan handled special teams. He provided momentum swings for our team at opportune times.
The following players received All-Conference Honorable Mention: Cody Reithemeyer, Trevor Cothern, Darren Tribble and Tyler Andrews.
Farm Bureau Awards
Treadway and Wilcoxson have also been named as finalists for the 2012 Farm Bureau Awards.
The Awards honor the state's top offensive player, defensive player and coach of the year for each classification. The staff at Hooten's Arkansas Football selects three finalists for each category.
Treadway is a finalist among 2A coaches, while Wilcoxson is a finalist among 2A defensive players.
The 45 finalists and their families are invited to attend the Farm Bureau Awards on Monday in North Little Rock.
Walnut Ridge enjoyed one of the most successful football seasons in school history in 2012, finishing third in the 2A-3 Conference race with a 10-3 record. The Bobcats made a historic run in the state playoffs, winning three postseason games and becoming only the second team in school history to advance to the semifinal round of the playoffs.
