The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department awarded bids on two major Lawrence County projects on Nov. 28.
Walter McMillan, district engineer with the AHTD, said contracts were entered into for construction of the new Black River Bridge at Black Rock and paving of the new Highway 67 from Highway 230 to the Highway 63 bypass at Hoxie.
The contract on the bridge was awarded to the low bid of $39,217, 805.81 from Jensen Construction Company of Des Moines, Iowa.
Construction is expected to begin in February or March.
Weaver-Bailey Contracting of El Paso, Ark., will be the contractor for the completion of Highway 67 to Highway 63.
McMillan said the company came in with a bid of $20,032,388.83 and is the contractor on the stretch already under construction between highways 226 and 230.
He said the grading and structural phase of the construction is nearly complete.
Paving on the stretch is expected to begin in late March or early April, depending on the weather.
He said Lawrence County residents can rest easy that both projects will be completed.
"It's just a matter of time now," he said. "They are both on their way."
