Hoxie players receive
Thirteen members of the Hoxie senior high football team have received postseason honors. Two Mustangs, Colton Brown and Dillon Cagle, were named to the 3A All-State second team, while 11 other players received first or second team 3A-3 All-Conference recognition.
Hoxie finished the season with a 6-4 record and tied for third place in the conference standings.
The players honored are:
Second team All-State and first team All-Conference
Colton Brown, junior, linebacker-fullback - On defense, Brown recorded 173 total tackles, including 64 solo stops. He had eight tackles for loss and three sacks, caused two fumbles and recovered two fumbles. He had two interceptions and blocked three passes.
On offense, Brown rushed 30 times for 143 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught a touchdown pass.
Dillon Cagle, junior, lineman - As a defensive lineman, Cagle had 49 assisted tackles, 10 solo tackles, a sack and a blocked pass.
On the offensive side of the ball, he finished with a cumulative grade of 87% and had 30 knockdown blocks.
First team All-Conference
Gunner Cook, sophomore, running back - Cook rushed for 1,011 yards and 14 touchdowns on 192 carries. He also caught five passes for 99 yards.
Jacob Henson, junior, running back-defensive back - As a running back, Henson rushed for 588 yards and three touchdowns on 62 carries. He caught nine passes for 150 yards and four touchdowns.
From his defensive back position, Henson registered 32 assisted tackles and 23 solo tackles. He recovered one fumble and caused another fumble.
Brett Nosser, senior, running back - Nosser rushed for 318 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries. He caught seven passes for 129 yards and a touchdown.
On special teams, he returned nine kickoffs for 112 yards and a touchdown.
Conner Roberts, junior, lineman - On defense, Roberts recorded 53 assisted tackles and 21 solo tackles. He had seven sacks, three tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and a blocked pass.
Roberts' cumulative offensive line grade was 83%, with 10 knockdown blocks.
Cole Sears, sophomore, quarterback-defensive back - As the Mustangs quarterback, Sears completed 48-of-91 pass attempts, for 644 yards and nine touchdowns. He also rushed for 511 yards and five touchdowns on 89 attempts.
In four games on the defensive side, Sears had 17 assisted tackles, eight solo tackles, one interception and a blocked pass.
On special teams, he recorded a 40-yard average on 19 punts.
Slade Sullens, junior, receiver-defensive back - Sullens caught 19 passes for 206 yards and four touchdowns.
On the defensive side, he had 59 assisted tackles, 32 solo tackles, two fumble recoveries, an interception and one blocked pass.
Second team All-Conference
Stephen Arnold, sophomore, defensive lineman - Arnold recorded 55 assisted tackles and 13 solo tackles. He had three sacks and recovered a fumble.
Aaron French, sophomore, offensive lineman - French's cumulative grading was 86%, with 15 knockdown blocks.
Austin Jordan, senior, offensive lineman - Jordan finished with a cumulative line grading of 86% and had two knockdown blocks.
Jackson Russell, junior, offensive lineman - Russell had a cumulative line grading of 84% and 12 knockdown blocks.
Austin Williams, sophomore, linebacker - Williams registered 45 assisted tackles and 26 solo tackles. He had one sack, caused a fumble, recovered a fumble, blocked a pass and scored a defensive touchdown.
