Hillcrest, BR teams face off
Nathan Hibbard Hillcrest and Black Rock hooked up on the basketball court Nov. 13, with the Screamin' Eagles winning two of the three contests on the Zebras' home floor. The Hillcrest senior boys improved to 7-1 on the season with a 55-27 victory. Hillcrest jumped out to a 14-3 first-quarter advantage and never looked back, leading 29-12 at halftime and 42-21 after three periods. Colman Evans led the Eagles with 16 points, while Zach Doyle added 14. Evan Doyle had 11 rebounds. Caleb McKenzie led Black Rock with 10 points.
Lindsey Crews and Stacy Maxwell each scored 14 points to lead the Lady Eagles to 58-30 win. Hillcrest, which led 15-9 at the end of the first quarter, outscored Black Rock 37-8 over the next two periods to take a 52-17 lead into the final quarter. Rachael Weekly had 11 points for the Lady Zebras. Black Rock's junior high girls defeated Hillcrest 38-27.
