Hillcrest records homecoming win
The Hillcrest senior boys defeated Viola 64-54 in front of a homecoming crowd at Lynn Friday night.
The visiting Longhorns jumped on Hillcrest early, taking a 15-7 first-quarter lead. The Screamin' Eagles came back to dominate the second period, outscoring Viola 27-9, to edge in front 34-31 at halftime. Hillcrest led by one, 48-47, after three quarters, and pulled away in the final period.
Zach Doyle led the Eagles in scoring, with 21 points. Colman Evans had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Jeremiah Turner contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Hillcrest improved to 3-1 in 2A-North Conference play and 8-1 overall.
Viola's junior high boys defeated Hillcrest 54-42. Dyllan Nunnally scored 14 points, and Nathan Pankey added 10 for the junior Eagles.
In senior girls action, Viola downed the Lady Screamin' Eagles 60-42.
The Lady Longhorns led 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, 30-19 at halftime and 48-31 heading into the final period.
Lindsey Crews had 15 points to lead Hillcrest.
The Lady Screamin' Eagles fell to 2-2 in conference play and 6-4 overall.
