Brik Amos Jones

Cody and Whitney Jones of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of their first child, a son, born Oct. 28, 2012, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, four ounces, and has been named Brik Amos Jones.

Grandparents are Donald and Vicki Jones of Walnut Ridge and Reggie and Kathy Bennett of Paragould. He is the great-grandson of Virginia Lovelady of Walnut Ridge.

Jade Abigale Mounts

Hannah Fultner and Hunter Mounts, both of Hoxie, have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born Nov. 2, 2012, at Harris Hospital in Newport.

The baby weighed seven pounds, 1.2 ounces, and has been named Jade Abigale Mounts.

Grandparents are Dwayne and Cindy Fultner and Ron and Kristi Mounts all of Hoxie.

Great-grandparents are John and Jessie Fultner of Hoxie, Caroline Sheets of Cherokee Village, formerly of Imboden, Jack and Rhonda Land of Clover Bend, Rickey and Phyllis Tribble of Hoxie and the late Sharon Waters Land of Hoxie.

She is the great-granddaughter of Audrey Waters of Minturn and Wanda Peterson of Wisconsin, formerly of Clover Bend.

Seth Christopher Phillips

Sean and Allison (Prestidge) Phillips of Franklin, Tenn., have announced the birth of their first child, a son, born on Nov. 14 at Williamson County Hospital in Franklin, Tenn.

The baby weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces, and has been named Seth Christopher Phillips.

Grandparents are Jan Phillips of Franklin, Tenn., and Steve and Rita Prestidge of Powhatan.

Edward Prestidge of Jonesboro is the great-grandfather.

Alexis Marie Roedel

Raymond Roedel and Angela Qualls of Pocahontas have announced the birth of a daughter, born on Nov. 2, 2012, at St. Bernards Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed four pounds, four ounces, and has been named Alexis Marie Roedel. She has one sibling, a brother, Cameron Shelly, 11.

Grandparents are Steve Mayville, Debbie Mayville and Fred Qualls, all of Jonesboro; Lisa Right of Omaha, Neb., Jerry Roedel of Pocahontas and Roger Anderson of Walnut Ridge.

Cade Allan Christie, 25, of Manila, son of Allan Christie of Walnut Ridge, died Nov. 16, 2012, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident near Manila. Joan Drury

Joan Drury, 78, of Powhatan, died Nov. 15, 2012, at the Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Born March 10, 1934, in Powhatan, she was the daughter of Frank Evan and Laura Elenore Smith. She was a housewife and attended Lake Charles Full Gospel Gospel Temple at Lake Charles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Leroy Drury, whom she married Oct. 1, 1954; a son, Tommy Wayne Drury; and three brothers, Tommy Gene Smith, Frank Smith and Dempsey Smith.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Leroy Drury and wife Deb, Green Castle, Mo.; a daughter, Cindy Bragg and husband James, Cherokee Village; two brothers, Cleades Smith, Mountain View, and Jerry Dale Smith, Piedmont, N.C.; five sisters, Lois Colbert, Pat Smith and Jeraldine Davis, all of Imboden, Bonnie Richey, Powhatan, and Mary Maxwell, Black Rock; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with Cindy Bragg officiating. Burial was in Powhatan Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matthew Segraves, Jeremy Pingel, John Gaines, Billy McGinty, Matt Callahan and Tim Coonfield.

Imogene McCleskey

Imogene Barnes McCleskey, 86, of Pocahontas, died Nov. 13, 2012, at Five Rivers Medical Center.

Born March 26, 1926, she was the daughter of Pearl and Edith Davis Barnes. She grew up in the Black Rock area and later taught math in the Pocahontas School District. She later worked as a receptionist at her husband's dental office in Pocahontas. She was a member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ for the past 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Edgar Wayne McCleskey; and two sons, Brian McCleskey and Kevin McCleskey.

Survivors include two grandsons, Shawn McCleskey, Memphis, and J.L. McCleskey and wife Tabby, Pocahontas; and a granddaughter, Carol Allen and husband Josh, Pocahontas.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Pyburn Street Church of Christ with Dr. Grant Killion and Lt. Col. Dennis McCarty officiating. Burial was in Randolph Memorial Gardens under the direction of McNabb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Shawn McCleskey, J.L. McCleskey, Michael McCleskey, Don Wilson, Michael Biddle and Travis Cline. Honorary pallbearers were G.W. Allison, Joshua Allen, Byron Futrell, Max Long and Ray Shaver.

Martin Dwight McComas Jr.

Martin Dwight McComas Jr., 32, of Mammoth Spring, died Nov. 11, 2012, in Memphis.

Born Oct. 6, 1980, in Melbourne, he was employed in the trucking business. He was a Mason and attended Shekinah Tabernacle in Wirth.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hollis and Myrtle DeFoe.

Survivors include his wife, Tiffiney Bradley McComas, whom he married June 24, 1999, in Black Rock; three daughters, Amy McComas, Shea McComas and Elizabeth McComas; a son, Matthew McComas; his parents, Martin Dwight Sr. and Brenda Joyce DeFoe McComas, Mammoth Spring; three sisters, Tabitha Rea and husband Daniel, Benton City, Wash., and Esther Hatfield and husband Fredie Jr. and Rebekah Gage and husband J.R., all of Show Low, Ariz.; and his grandparents, Robert and Margaret McComas, Ash Flat.

Funeral was Monday at 2 p.m. at Christian Tabernacle in Wirth with Martin McComas Sr. officiating. Burial was in Eagles Rest Cemetery, near Hardy, under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge.

Pallbearers were Marcus Kitson, Jaylan Gott, Joe Friel, Hunter Friel, Noah McComas and James Watson.

Wanda Parrish

Wanda Joyce Parrish, 81, of Pocahontas, formerly of Lawrence County, died Nov. 16, 2012, at Pocahontas Nursing and Rehab.

Born Nov. 11, 1931, in Amarillo, Texas, she was the daughter of Lester and Lorene Peninger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Neil Parrish.

Survivors include a son, Steve Parrish, El Centro, Calif.; a daughter, Lori Patterson, Pocahontas; five grandchildren, Angie Farmer, Valerie Earley, Kristin Parrish, Brooke Parrish and Nate Parrish; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Monday at 10 a.m. at Sutton Cemetery with Randy Scott officiating. McNabb Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

William H. Smith

William H. Smith, 82, of Imboden, died Nov. 13, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Jan. 25, 1930, at Fontaine, he was the son of Hubert and Delbert Wicker Smith and was of the Baptist belief. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Orr Smith, on Jan. 23, 2004, whom he married in April 1990.

Survivors include two sons, William E. Smith, Bridgeview, Ill., and Alan Smith, Joliet, Ill.; a daughter, Julie Ozyuk, Hanover Park, Ill.; two brothers, Walter Smith, Sedgwick, and Joe Smith, Wyoming; a sister, Nadine Britton, Ravenden; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two stepsons, Michael Truxler, Arkansas, and Dennis Truxler, Walnut Ridge.

Funeral was Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Truxler officiating. Burial was in Old Military Cemetery at Sedgwick.

Pallbearers were William Smith, Billy Smith, Scott Smith, Eddie Glapinski, John Finney and Russell Jessen. Honorary pallbearers were Alvie Stogsdill, Robert Rogue, Raymond Minton, Thomas Stogsdill and Nick Ozy.

Bill Wells

William Wilson "Bill" Wells, 86, of Ravenden Springs, died Nov. 16, 2012.

Born Aug. 4, 1926, he was the son of Wayman and Lucy Wells.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie Wells; a son, Kenneth Wells, two grandchildren, Andrea Bennett and Tim Wells; and a baby brother.

Survivors include five sons, Millard Wells and wife Donna and Anthony Wells and wife Dana, all of Ravenden Springs, Doug Wells and wife Sherry, Myrtle, Mo., Dennis Wells and wife Mary, Pocahontas, and Danny Wells and wife Janet, Imboden; a daughter, Diane Bennett and husband Clinton, Ravenden Springs; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Wells Gray; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Gerald Fears officiating. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery.

Visitation was set for Tuesday from 5-8 p.m.
