S-H splits with Pangburn

The Sloan-Hendrix Lady Greyhounds won their 2A-2 Conference opener over Pangburn 53-47 in high school basketball action Friday night at Imboden. Sloan-Hendrix trailed 25-20 at halftime, but outscored Pangburn 21-5 in the third quarter to lead 41-30 entering the fourth period. Britney Wolfe and Madicyn Huddleston each scored 13 points to pace the Lady Greyhounds. The win evened the Lady Hounds' season record at 2-2. Pangburn's senior boys held off Sloan-Hendrix for a 58-50 win. The Tigers led 14-8 after one quarter and 25-19 at halftime. Sloan-Hendrix fought back in the second half to tie the game 35-35 after three quarters. The Greyhounds missed a shot that would have tied the game with 40 seconds to play and were forced to foul the remainder of the contest. Zeb Gipson led Sloan-Hendrix with 14 points. Kyle Murphy scored 13 points, and Chris Taylor added 10.
The Sloan-Hendrix senior girls dropped a 62-51 decision to Maynard on Oct. 30 at Imboden. Wolfe led the Lady Greyhounds with 12 points. Huddleston and Ashley Ward each scored 11 points. In senior boys action, Maynard outscored Sloan-Hendrix 49-25 in the second and third quarters en route to a 77-61 win. Murphy and Taylor each scored 12 points for the Greyhounds. Sloan-Hendrix won a junior girls game 33-31.
