"We usually vote about 40 percent," Stowers said. "So, we were definitely up this election." In addition, early voting saw a dramatic increase from the last presidential election. In 2008, Lawrence County had 1,151 vote early, compared to 1,918 in this year's election.
Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson was re-elected. He ran as a Democrat and defeated Independent challenger Ezra Pierce, 4,284-1,188 in the only countywide race.
