327 flu shots given at clinic
The influenza vaccine is also being offered to students in public schools in the county. Each of the schools had a clinic scheduled in either October or November. The height of the flu season is generally December through March, and the best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year, according to the Arkansas Department of Health website, www.healthy.arkansas.gov. At Friday's mass flu clinic, Daylight Donuts contributed donuts for the event. The Arkansas Department of Human Services "SNAP" (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) mobile unit was also available. The flu vaccine will continue to be available at the Lawrence County Health Unit, said a spokesperson for the unit.
