WR wraps up season
Walnut Ridge concluded the 2012 volleyball regular season last week with matches against Batesville Southside, CRA and Annie Camp.
The junior Lady Bobcats defeated Annie Camp 25-17, 25-19 on Thursday in Jonesboro.
Cirstin Lee was 10-of-11 serving, and had six digs and two kills. Lane Robertson was nine-of-10 serving, with four aces, seven digs and four assists. Madison Cox had three kills, an assist and a dig. Alyssa Leatherman went seven-of-eight from the line, with one ace, three kills, an assist and four digs. Whitney Rider had seven digs, six assists and four kills. Sunnie Cunningham had three digs and four kills. Sydney Linebaugh was eight-of-nine serving, with three aces, and three digs, and Baylee Burris had a dig.
The Walnut Ridge junior B team defeated Annie Camp in three sets, 15-25, 25-21, 15-12.
The Lady Bobcats hosted Crowley's Ridge Academy on Oct. 9.
In their regular-season finale, the senior Lady Bobcats won the opening set against the Lady Falcons, 25-16. CRA stormed back to win the next three sets 25-10, 25-11, 25-12, to take the match.
For Walnut Ridge, Anna Bland was 11-of-11 serving, and had 16 digs and 10 kills. Nikki Pyle had two kills. Ashlyn Cothern was 10-of-10 serving, and had 21 digs, nine assists and five kills. Caroline Kelley was 10-of-10 serving, with an ace, 26 digs and eight kills. Brooke Midgett had three digs, three kills and a service ace. Sabrina Knight had nine assists, seven digs and a kill. Hannah Massey was 14-of-14 serving, and had 27 digs. Baylee Bridges had two digs and an assist, and Stephann Petty had a dig.
CRA defeated Walnut Ridge in junior high action 17-25, 25-22, 25-19.
Lee was 14-of-14 serving, with an ace, 10 digs and one kill. Robertson was 10-of-11 serving, and had 19 digs, eight assists and three kills. Cox finished with three kills and an assist. Leatherman was 11-of-12 serving, with two aces, 18 digs and 13 kills. Rider had 13 digs, 11 assists, five kills and a service ace. Cunningham had eight digs and six kills. Linebaugh was 15-of-17 serving, with two aces and seven digs.
The Walnut Ridge junior B team defeated CRA 25-12.
Walnut Ridge dropped a four-set match against Southside on Oct. 8 in Batesville. The Lady Cats won the first game 25-22, but lost the next three 26-24, 25-18, 25-13.
Bland went 19-of-19 from the service line, with two aces, 23 digs and four kills. Pyle finished with two digs, five kills and an assist. Cothern was nine-of-10 serving, with 16 assists, 14 digs and three kills. Kelley was 18-of-18 serving, and had 21 digs and 17 kills. Midgett had four kills and a service ace. Knight went eight-of-nine from the line, with an ace, 13 digs and nine assists. Massey was 16-of-16 serving, with two aces, 25 digs and a kill.
Walnut Ridge's senior B team defeated Southside 25-19.

Lee went 13-of-13 from the line, with two aces and eight digs. Robertson was eight-of-eight serving, with two aces, 12 digs, three assists and four kills. Cox had four kills and a dig. Leatherman finished with two service aces, five digs and three kills. Rider had eight digs, six assists and two kills. Cunningham was six-of-six serving, with two aces, six digs and three kills, and Linebaugh had three digs.
Walnut Ridge won a junior B game 25-13.
The junior high team competed in the Blazer Blast at Valley View on Oct. 6.
In pool play, Walnut Ridge split matches with Nettleton and Wynne, and lost in two sets against Westside and Piggott.
The Lady Bobcats opened tournament play with a 25-20, 25-19 victory in a rematch with Wynne.
Lee was 12-of-13 serving, with two aces, seven digs and two kills. Robertson was 10-of-10 serving, with two aces, 16 digs, six assists and two kills. Cox had four digs and three kills. Leatherman had nine digs and two kills. Rider had six assists, four digs and two kills. Cunningham had six digs and four kills, and Linebaugh had five digs.
Walnut Ridge faced Paragould in their next match and won the opening game against the Lady Rams 25-14. Paragould rallied to win the next two sets, 25-14, 15-9, to take the match.
Lee was nine-of-nine serving and had 18 digs. Robertson was 13-of-13 serving and had 16 digs, two assists and two kills, and Cox added a kill. Leatherman was six-of-eight serving, with an ace and seven digs. Rider had three digs, six assists and a service ace. Cunningham finished with nine digs and five kills. Linebaugh was 10-of-10 serving, with an ace and seven digs, and Haley Hudson had a dig.
Rider and Robertson were named to the All-Tournament team.
