Hoxie falls to Piggott
Nathan Hibbard The Hoxie volleyball teams closed out regular-season conference play against Piggott on Oct. 9 at Hicks Gymnasium. In senior high action, Hoxie won the first set, 25-20, but the Lady Mohawks rallied to take the next games, 27-25, 25-13, 25-12, to win the match. For Hoxie, Sarah Manis had 17 assists, three digs and two kills. Courtney Sears had 18 digs, two blocks and 10 kills. Krista Coffell had two digs and four kills. Maddi Woodard finished with a dig, two blocks and 10 kills. Maria Fry was eight-of-eight serving, with two aces, five digs and a block. Emily Hatfield had seven digs, and Zoe Willfond had nine assists. Piggott won a closely contested junior high match 28-26, 25-23. Sequoia Irvin had six digs and a kill. Krista VanKirk had seven assists, two digs and a kill. Katelyn Jamison had three digs and three kills. Kelsey Moody was seven-of-seven serving, with two aces, a dig and a kill. Brooke Willfond had nine digs and three kills. Cheyenne Hatfield was seven-of-seven from the line, with two aces, two assists, two digs and two kills.
