Mustangs fall to Earle
Nathan Hibbard The Earle Bulldogs scored 40 first-half points on their way to a 48-16 win over the Hoxie Mustangs in 3A-3 senior high football action Friday night at Earle. The Bulldogs led 16-0 at the end of the first quarter, and added 24 points in the second. Hoxie scored all of their points in the second quarter. Earle fumbled deep in its own territory and the loose ball was recovered by the Mustangs' Austin Williams in the end zone for a touchdown. Later in the period, quarterback Cole Sears threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Brett Nosser. Sears finished two-of-eight passing, for 41 yards and a touchdown. Gunner Cook led Hoxie in rushing, with 72 yards on 20 carries. Jacob Henson added 53 yards on seven carries, and Nosser had 40 yards on five carries. Kyle Wilson finished with 27 yards on three attempts. Nosser had one reception for 39 yards, and Henson caught one pass for two yards. Hoxie dropped to 0-3 in 3A-3 conference play and 2-3 overall. The Mustangs play at Manila on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
