Running back lifts Osceola over Hoxie
Osceola running back Korliss Marshall showed why he is one of the state's top college prospects by rushing for 306 yards and five touchdowns in the Seminole's 36-7 victory over the Hoxie Mustangs Friday night at Crider Field.
The Seminole speedster set the tone early, racing 91 yards on Osceola's first offensive play of the game. He added a 55-yard run later in the opening period to put the Seminoles ahead 12-0.
Hoxie got on the scoreboard when Cole Sears found Slade Sullens with an eight-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Sears kicked the extra point to bring the Mustangs to with in 12-7.
Osceola responded on their next possession when Marshall scored on a 51-yard run to push the Seminoles lead to 18-7. Later in the quarter, Marshall scored on a one-yard run and the 'Noles carried a 24-7 lead into halftime.
Marshall's final touchdown came on a 22-yard run midway through the third quarter, stretching Osceola's lead to 30-7.
Shaquille Lockhart added the 'Noles' final points on a five-yard run with 3:31 remaining in the game. For Hoxie, Sears completed six-of-11 passes for 33 yards and a touchdown. He also had 52 yards rushing.
Gunner Cook led the Mustangs on the ground, with 55 yards on 13 carries.
Hoxie dropped to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in 3A-3 Conference play. The Mustangs host Rivercrest Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
