We won't 'Let it Be'

John Bland

Space limitations did not allow us to publish all the stories and photos of newsworthy events in this issue of The TD. Please look for more coverage in next week's TD of the Beatles at the Ridge festival, the Cavenaugh Thumperthon 5K, reunions, contest winners and more.

Saturday was an exciting day in Walnut Ridge with several events worthy of their own spread of photos and stories. Saturday morning's activities began with Thumperthon at Stewart Park. That event almost doubled in size of participants and funds raised over 2011.

Saturday afternoon's dedication of the Guitar Park was monumental in itself. The park is located next to the Iron Mountain Depot, on Highway 67 B, which has been designated as the Rock 'N' Roll Highway. The Guitar Park pays homage to the legendary musicians who played along the highway in the 1950s and '60s.

Saturday's second Beatles at the Ridge festival combined this year with the former Iron Mountain Festival that has been held downtown for a number of years.

With the opening of Beatles Park and the Guitar Walk, as well as new businesses, the landscape of downtown Walnut Ridge is changing. We look forward to more exciting changes and future festivals.
