Strong third quarter lifts
Hoxie over Cavemen

The Hoxie Mustangs scored 22 unanswered points in the third quarter to break open a close game and went on to defeat the Cave City Cavemen 42-28 in senior high football action Friday at Cave City.

Hoxie got on the scoreboard first on Gunner Cook's eight-yard scoring run in the first quarter. The PAT failed and the Mustangs led 6-0 after one period.

Hoxie extended its lead when quarterback Cole Sears passed 15 yards to Slade Sullens for the Mustangs' second touchdown. Sears then passed to Hunter Wilson for the two-point conversion and a 14-0 Mustang lead.

Bobcats dominate Westside

The Walnut Ridge Bobcats made short work of Westside, putting up 41 first-half points in a 41-7 rout of the Warriors in senior high football action on Friday at Sexton Field.

Lady Mustangs fall to Piggott

The Hoxie volleyball teams were in action twice last week, facing Piggott in a 3A-Northeast Conference match and stepping out of conference to face Trumann.

WR falls to CRA, defeat Newport

Crowley's Ridge Academy swept Walnut Ridge in high school volleyball action Thursday at Paragould. Scores of the three games were 25-21, 25-17, 25-23.
