The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats split a pair of volleyball matches against conference opponents last week.
Walnut Ridge took to the road and swept Bay 25-17, 25-22 and 25-22 on Thursday.
Ashlyn Cothern was 24-of-24 serving, with four aces and had 11 assists. Caroline Kelley had eight kills, and Anna Bland added five. Hannah Massey was 13-of-13 serving, and had 16 digs.
Walnut Ridge improved to 4-2 in 3A-Northeast Conference play and 8-2 overall.
The Lady Bobcats were on the short end of a three-game sweep at the hands of Piggott's Lady Mohawks on Sept. 4 at Sharum Gymnasium. The visitors won the three games by the scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-22.
Kelley finished with 12 kills, and Massey had 15 digs. Brooke Midgett was 11-for-11 serving, and Cothern contributed 10 assists.
Walnut Ridge's junior high volleyball team faced a tough challenge from Piggott, but were able to keep their season-opening winning streak alive with a three-game victory over the Lady Mohawk.
After dropping the first game to their visitors 20-25, Walnut Ridge clawed its way to a 25-21 win in the second game to even the match. The Lady Bobcats outlasted Piggott in the decisive third game, 25-17, to take the match.
