Hoxie drops two matches
Staff Writer Hoxie's senior high volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to 3A-Northeast Conference opponents last week.
The Lady Mustangs traveled to Paragould on Thursday and lost a four-game match to CRA 10-25, 25-23, 19-25, 17-25. Sarah Manis had three aces, nine assists, eight digs and four kills for Hoxie. Courtney Sears finished with two assists, nine digs and five kills. Krista Coffell recorded five digs and four kills. Maddi Woodard had three assists, two digs and five kills. Maria Fry had three digs and two kills. Grace Hall added nine kills, and Emily Hatfield had five digs. Zoe Willfond contributed seven assists, and Chasity Kingsland had two digs.
Ridgefield Christian defeated Hoxie in senior high action on Sept. 4 at Jonesboro. The Lady Warriors took the match in four games 23-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-17. For Hoxie, Manis went 10-of-10 from the service line, with an ace and had 11 assists, a dig and four kills. Sears had two blocks and four kills, and Coffell added three kills. Woodard had three blocks and nine kills. Fry had three digs and three kills. Hall finished with two assists, four digs, two blocks and three kills. Willfond had six assists, and Kingsland chipped in four digs. In junior high action, Hoxie swept Ridgefield 25-11, 25-7. Krista VanKirk had two aces, six assists and two kills. Danielle Maronde was six-of-six serving and had an assist. Sequoia Irvin was 10-of-11 from the service line, with an ace and had an assist and six kills. Kelsey Moody had two assists and two kills. Katelyn Jamison had two kills. Brooke Willfond was nine-of-10 from the line, with six aces, and had a dig and three kills. Alyson Smith had a kill, and Cheyenne Hatfield added an assist.
