Meeting room gets face lift

Work is complete on renovations to the Lawrence County Meeting Room, and the Quorum Court was informed that total cost on the project came in at $9,000.

The room, which is located adjacent to the Lawrence County Library, has a new tile floor and has been painted.

Justices also discussed comp time and voted to go back to the policy in the 2001 ordinance, which stated that all comp time must be taken within the next 28-day work period.

It was also announced that Creston Hutton is the new director of the Lawrence County Office of Emergency Management. He replaces Steve Jones, who resigned from the position.

In other business, the court:

  • appointed Justice Junior Briner to serve on the Northeast Arkansas Intermodal Facilities Authority. He replaces Terry Lambert.

  • asked department heads to begin working on their budgets for 2013.
