WR, Hoxie teams face off

The Walnut Ridge Lady Bobcats outlasted Hoxie's Lady Mustangs in senior high volleyball action on Aug. 28 at Walnut Ridge's Sharum Gynasium. The Lady Cats prevailed in a closely contested four-game match 25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 29-27.

For Walnut Ridge, Caroline Kelley was 23-of-24 from the service line, with two aces and also had 15 kills. Hannah Massey was 24-of-24 from the line and had 16 digs. Ashlyn Cothern set 19 assists, and Anna Bland had 18 digs.

For Hoxie, Sarah Manis had 19 assists, a dig and six kills. Courtney Sears had 10 digs, five blocks and a game-high 18 kills. Krista Coffell had two digs and six kills. Maddison Woodard had two blocks and seven kills. Maria Fry had five digs, a block and two kills. Grace Hall had a dig, a block and nine kills. Emily Hatfield had 11 digs, and Zoe Willfond had 11 assists and two digs.

Mustangs trample Trumann in season opener

Hoxie's Mustangs proved to be good mudders in defeating Trumann 41-12 in soggy conditions in the opening game of the senior high football season.
