Louis and Kim Poposky of Maumelle have announced the birth of a son on August 25, 2012, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.

The baby weighed nine pounds, three ounces, and has been named Andrew Ryan Poposky.

Grandparents include Mary Beakley Crowson of Piggott, formerly or Walnut Ridge.

Oliver ~ Hufstedler

Dale and Tammy Sorg of Farmington, Mo., and Nathan and Mary Oliver of Jonesboro have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Vanessa Oliver, to Adam Hufstedler, son of Cliff Hufstedler of Warm Springs and Dina Rose Hufstedler of Walnut Ridge.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Larry and Sandra Penn of Walnut Ridge, Glenn and Marie Oliver of Lynn, Barry Miller of St. Louis, Janet Parker of Piggott and the late James and Genevieve Sorg.

She is a 2009 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School and is a student at Arkansas State University. She also owns her own dog-grooming business.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Joyce Rose of Walnut Ridge and the late Gary Rose and the late Norman and JoAnnette Hufstedler.

He is the great-grandson of Wanda Rose of Jonesboro.

He is a 2006 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He earned his associate's degree from Black River Technical College, attended Arkansas State University and is employed by American Railcar Industries, Inc. in Paragould.

The couple will exchange vows on Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. at an outdoor ceremony at Swindle Farms, located at 8315 Hwy. 412 in Paragould.

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Williams ~ Meadors

Allen Williams and Terry Sue Passalaqua, both of Walnut Ridge, have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Alyson Rachel Williams to Cory Stephen Meadors, son of James and Dianne Meadors of Ft. Smith.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of E.W Anderson of Walnut Ridge and the late Alice Anderson, Bernice Williams of Walnut Ridge, Walter Williams of Minturn and the late Lorine Williams.

She is a 2003 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in management information systems from the University of Central Arkansas in 2007 and her master's degree in business technology from Arkansas State University in 2012. She is an information technology specialist for Arkansas State University in student accounts.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Jim and Ella Mae Meadors of Alma and the late Ralph and Mary Lee Jarrett.

He is a 2003 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in agricultural business form Arkansas Tech University in 2009. He is a precision ag specialist with Greenway Equipment, Inc. in Wynne.

The couple will exchange vows on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Walnut Ridge.

John F. Cook Jr.

John Franklin Cook Jr., 79, of Trumann, died Aug. 28, 2012, in Trumann.

Born Feb. 28, 1933, in Trumann, he was the son of John Franklin Sr. "Bill" and Ethel Mae Hendrickson Cook. He was a lifelong resident of Trumann and was retired from quality control at Roach Manufacturing. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Trumann and was a former member of the Trumann Jaycees.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo Cook; and three brothers, Jerry Cook, Robert Cook and Bill Cook.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Lee Cook and wife Kay and Gary Wayne Cook and wife Debbie, all of Trumann; three brothers, Tom Cook, Bradford, Charlie Cook, Walnut Ridge, and Larry Cook, Hoxie; four sisters, Betty Lou Walker, Walnut Ridge, Peggy Sue Hastings, Oxford, Mass., and Mary Ann Craig and Patricia Neece, both of Pocahontas; four grandchildren, Eric Cook, Jason Cook, Tia Milligan and Zachary Cook; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Trumann with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Pallbearers were Zachary Cook, Eric Cook, Jason Cook, Tim Cook, Shawn Cook and Roger McCarty. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Dungan, Russell Branum, Mike Mabe, Gail Grimes, Eugene Burks and Danny Smith.

Kathleen Benstead Hays

Kathleen Benstead Hays, 94, of Jonesboro, mother of Beth Mason of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro. Burial was Saturday in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home. Anna Jones

Anna Jones, 98, of Monette, formerly of Manila, died Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Feb. 28, 1914, in Swifton, she was the daughter of Josepheus and Cora Ruff Slayton. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church in Manila.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Earl Jones, in 1992, whom she married in 1940; four sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include a son, Jewel Bibbs, Burton, Mich.; a granddaughter, Debbie Araiza; two great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. Burial was in Monette Cemetery.

Charles Everett Oldham

Charles Everett Oldham, 52, of Pocahontas, died Aug. 30, 2012.

Born Nov. 25, 1959, in Clarksdale, Miss., he was an iron worker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Evangeline Freeman; a son, Michael Addington, Pocahontas; four daughters, Peggy Barnett, Marshfield, Mo., Mary Bargiel, Quitman, Melissa Davis, Lonoke, and Brittney Griffin, Etowah; his mother, Peggy Oldham, Quitman; a brother, Steve Oldham, Quitman; three sisters, Kathy Finney and Carla Ramsey, both of Batesville, and Diana Polston, Quitman; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation is today from 2-4 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home.

Ruby Jewel Swindle

Ruby Jewel Swindle, 72, of Hoxie, died Aug. 31, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born May 5, 1940, in Lepanto, she was the daughter of Willie and Edith Arnold Spradlin. She was a former employee of S-B Power Tool and was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Swindle; a brother, Odell Spradlin; and a grandson, Spencer Swindle.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Swindle; three sons, Ricky Swindle, Hoxie, and Ray Swindle and Roger Swindle, both of Walnut Ridge; a sister, Ruth McGuffey, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Wayne Spradlin, Ozark Acres; 11 grandchildren, Matthew T. Cook, Samantha D. Vanover, Thomas E. Swindle, Ericka H. Smith, Meagan L. Swindle, Anthony D. Swindle, Kelsie J. Holt, Ashley N. Ezel, Brandy D. Graham, Kelly I. Johnson and Gary W. Swindle; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Matthew Balentine officiating. Burial will be in Strangers Home Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Looney, Scott Smith, Michael Butts, Will Israel, Robb Defries and Ray Martin.

Betty Jo Weldon

Betty Jo Weldon, 75, of Concord, died Sept. 4, 2012, in Batesville.

Born Nov. 8, 1937, in Braggadocio, Mo., she was a homemaker and had lived in California before moving to Concord in 1974.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Weldon, in 1991; her parents, Eugene and Florence Clayton Maxwell; nine siblings, Madeline James, Harry Lee Maxwell, Jean Russell, Rebecca Hellard, Billy H. Maxwell, May "Ruth" Maxwell, Luan Maxwell Stanford, Linda Sue Puddicomb, Delma Gene Maxwell; and an infant granddaughter, Whitney Weldon.

Survivors include two sons, Melvin "Gary" Weldon and wife Vicki, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Terry Weldon and wife Lisa, Concord; a daughter, Cindy Weldon, Lee's Summit, Mo.; a brother, Tom Maxwell and wife Rose, Illinois; a sister, Pauline Schrimsher and husband Jerry, Pangburn; seven grandchildren, Derek Weldon, Julie Weldon, Stacy Weldon Simmons, Brittney Tibbles-Littlefield, Nicole Weldon, Jo Weldon and Michael Skrainski; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Thursday at 1 p.m. at Concord Cemetery in Concord with Charles Crowson officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn has charge of arrangements.
