Hoxie High School
announces new teachers

Hoxie High School has seven new faculty members for the 2012-13 school year.

Travis Berry, a native of O'Kean, is teaching seventh and eighth grade science.

He has a degree in mid-level math and science education from Williams Baptist College.

He and his wife, Kate, live in Pocahontas. They have three children, Rebekah, Willa and Samuel.

Garrod Huckaby of Walnut Ridge is the new chemistry and physics teacher at HHS.

A native of Tupelo, Miss., he has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ole Miss and a master's degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University. He previously taught secondary science at Black Rock High School.

He and his wife, Kim, have one son, Blake Snow.

Adam Dahl, a native of Des Arc, will be teaching eighth-grade math.

He has a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from WBC.

He resides in Walnut Ridge.

Drew Gardner, a Hoxie native and HHS graduate, will teach seventh-grade social studies.

He holds a degree in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt University.

Joseph Curtis of Trumann will teach seventh-through-12-grade band and music technology.

He holds a bachelor's degree in music with a minor in chemistry and a master's degree in music performance, all from ASU.

Donna Shannon, who holds bachelor's degrees in math and math education from ASU and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana Tech University, is teaching algebra II, algebraic connections and remedial algebra I and math 9.

She previously taught math at Marked Tree High School and Westside High School.

She and her husband, Robert, live in Hoxie. She has a daughter, Christi Clayton, who also works at Hoxie School as the speech language pathologist.

Lisa Booth, a native of Blytheville, is teaching special education, eighth-grade math and study hall.

She holds an associate's degree from Black River Technical Colleg and has previously taught at Armorel and Valley View.

She is married to Tim Booth, Hoxie Elementary School's assistant principal, and they reside in Walnut Ridge. She has three children, Austin Booth, nine, Edwin Wallace, 31, and Jeff Wallace, 27.
