filings continuing
The filing period for those seeking election to municipal offices will continue until noon on Friday. Municipal offices will be voted on in the Nov. 6 General Election.
Mayoral positions are four-year terms and will not be up for election until 2014. Those filing for municipal office in Lawrence County as of Tuesday at 3 p.m. are as follows:

Petitions for municipal positions are available from the office of County Clerk Tina Stowers in the courthouse in Walnut Ridge.
Those seeking positions must obtain the signatures of at least 30 eligible voters in first-class cities or at least 10 signatures of eligible voters in second-class cities and incorporated towns, according to Sarah Dobbs, deputy county clerk.
Candidates are also required to file a Political Practices Pledge and an Affidavit of Eligibility at the time of filing. These forms, as well as petitions, are available at the county clerk's office or online from the Arkansas Secretary of State's website, Dobbs added.
