Developers expanding NorthRidge
The NorthRidge subdivision in Walnut Ridge is in the process of expanding. The housing development is located on the north side of town beyond Pocahontas Road, and has proved to be an attractive addition to the city.
Roads are now being cut for an additional 14 lots that will be developed north of the existing residential addition, according to Danny Gibson of GAW Partnership.
Gibson, agent/owner of Shelter Insurance, Polar Freeze owner Jack Allison and retired dentist Dr. Harold Willmuth are Walnut Ridge businessmen who make up GAW. They share other business ventures in the area, as well as having businesses of their own.
Phase I of NorthRidge was completed in 1995, and all 25 lots were sold by 2001, with 20 houses built since it was completed. This current expansion is phase II of the project.
"All utilities will be underground, with wide streets, curbs and guttering to be added, as well as room for large turnarounds for emergency vehicles," Gibson said. Gibson said phase I developed rapidly, and they hope phase II will as well.
"Our goal was to create a subdivision in Walnut Ridge that everyone could be proud of, and that has come to pass," Gibson said. "NorthRidge has beautiful, quality homes that are well kept with lawns that are well maintained. Our plan is to continue phase II in the same manner with more quality homes like the ones we now have."
Two lots in the area under development were sold on Monday.
"We thought this expansion was in the best interest of Walnut Ridge," Gibson said.
