Andy and Courtney Arnold of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of their first child, a son, born on July 27, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed nine pounds and has been named Knox Franklin Arnold.

Grandparents are Dennis and Leigh Ann Sublett and Yvonne Arnold and the late Mike Arnold.

Great-grandparents are TD and Bonnie Sublett, Bill Pierce and Lee Von Parr.

Robyn Aryana Crouch

Keith and Ali Crouch of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of a daughter, born on July 24, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, five ounces, and has been named Robyn Aryana "Ary" Crouch. She has one brother, Wesley Crouch, six.

Grandparents are Dave Blakeney of Pocahontas and the late Robin Blakeney and Linda Crouch of Maynard and the late Rick Crouch.

Great-grandparents are Pat (Mrs. Robert) Hicks of Walnut Ridge and Betty (Mrs. Tommy) Getson of Pocahontas.

Grayson Ryder Mitchell

Bobby and Dr. Ashley Mitchell of Jonesboro have announced the birth of a son, born on June 28, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds, one ounce, and has been named Grayson Ryder Mitchell. He has a brother, Corwyn, five, and a sister, Riley, one.

Grandparents are Teri Lyn Baker of Walnut Ridge and the late Barney K. Baker.

Great-grandparents are Joyce Green of Walnut Ridge and the late Relton Green.

Colman Sawyer Waldrupe

Tony and Michelle Waldrupe of Walnut Ridge have announced the birth of a son, born on July 18, 2012, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed eight pounds and has been named Colman Sawyer Waldrupe. He has two brothers, Houston, 21, and Gavin, 11.

Grandparents are J.B. and Flossie Hurst of Walnut Ridge and the late Katherine Ward and the late Chester Waldrupe. Virginia Freeman of Hoxie is the adopted grandmother.

Mary Combs of Walnut Ridge is the great-grandmother.

Owens ~ Dunbar

Jerry and Lisa Owens of Walnut Ridge have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Owens, to Scott Clifford Dunbar, son of Mary Russell of Cabot and James Dunbar of Little Rock.

The bride elect is the granddaughter of W.E. and Diana Smith of Cave City. She is a 2010 graduate of Hoxie High School and is employed as a cashier at Hays.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Pat Scott of Bono and Larry and Trish Dunbar of Little Rock. He serves as a specialist in the 101st Airborne 4th Brigade of the United States Army.

The couple will exchange vows on Aug. 11, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the White Oak Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Charles Ray Boss

Charles Ray Boss, 66, of Hoxie, died Aug. 6, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born June 26, 1946, in Oil Trough, he was a farmer and attended New Life Cathedral Church in Hoxie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Agnus Holder Boss; and several brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Junita Boss; a son, Danny Boss, Calico Rock; two stepsons, John Matlock, Missouri, and Christopher Matlock, Hoxie; four brothers, Benny Boss, Leonard Boss and Willie Boss, all of Tuckerman, and Cleatus Boss, Batesville; a sister, Rosa Brown, Guy; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Private services were under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Shawna Darlene Collett

Shawna Darlene Collett, 46, of Imboden, died Aug. 3, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 17, 1965, in St. Louis, she was preceded in death by her father, Donald Stout.

Survivors include her husband, William Collett; two sons, Shawn Collett, Imboden, and Ray Collett, Reyno; a daughter, Ashley Shavers, Pocahontas; her mother, Alberta Brandon, Pocahontas; and four sisters, Billie Stallings, Poplar Bluff, Mo., Sheila Tanner, Sherry Hufford and Sandra Jones, all of Ravenden Springs.

Funeral was Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas. Burial was in Charter Oak Cemetery.

Matthew James Gorecki

Matthew James Gorecki, 45, died July 28, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born Dec. 7, 1966, in Michigan, he was the son of Helen Alice Reed Gorecki and Kennith Hiram Brandon. He was a certified cabinet maker and a handyman.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Peggy Sue Powers Gorecki; a son, Stephen Gorecki, Michigan; a stepson, Joshua Charles Gray, Walnut Ridge; a stepdaughter, Monica LeAnne Long, Walnut Ridge; four brothers, Sam Brandon, Hoxie, Raymond Brandon, O'Kean, Paul Suitor, Michigan, and Randy Gorecki, California; five sisters, Loretta Raymond, Michigan, Debra Brandon, Hoxie, and Rosalie Gorecki, Marsha Law and Laura Mattson, all of California; a brother-in-law, Eugene Powers, Hoxie; and four grandchildren, Kayleene Faith Long, Jordyn Star Long, Chantelle Autumn Nicole Gray and Beau Hunter Gray.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Black Rock Cemetery

Joshua Lynn Hall

Joshua Lynn Hall, 29, of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 5, 2012, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born July 17, 1983, he was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County and a 2002 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School. He was of the Pentecostal belief.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Ella Hall and Charlie and Mary Boozer.

Survivors include his parents, Roy and Margaret Boozer Hall, Walnut Ridge; and two brothers, Clifton Hall and wife Mary, Hoxie, and Daniel Hall and wife Debbie, Florida; a sister, Becky Catron and husband Mike, Ravenden Springs.

Graveside service is today at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Park with Jerry Cochran officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Visitation is today, one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be David Catron, Tyler Hall, Joey Ball, Rodney Hall, Michael McGonigal and Terry Liles. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Ditto and Randy Carter Sr.

Tine Holder

Alex "Tine" Holder, 91, of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 2, 2012, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born Dec. 26, 1920, in Walnut Ridge, he was the son of Ervin and Alpha Rosselot Holder. He was a World War II Army veteran, a carpenter and a charter member of United Free Will Bapist Church in Walnut Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dessie Holder; three brothers, Nuel Holder, Uel Holder and Lloyd Holder; and three sisters, Mary McCullison, Evelyn Bristol and Lorene Blackwell.

Survivors include a daughter, Milissa Gentry and husband Terry, Walnut Ridge; a stepdaughter, Shelia Ingram and husband Bill, Annieville; a stepson, Henry Doyle, Pocahontas; two brothers, L.T. Holder, Rockford, Ill., and Charles Holder, Walnut Ridge; a sister, Bernice Brown, Independence, Mo.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a special family friend, Brenda Poindexter.

Funeral was Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at United Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Glenn Smith officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Walcott, under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Tony Dunlap, Terry Gentry, Jon Rowell, Try McCormick, Randal Rogers and Cody Rounsaville. Honorary pallbearers were Rees Dunlap, Barry Holder, Faris Paxton, Terry Smith, Dylan Rogers and Tanner Rogers.

Charles Carroll Hufstedler

Charles Carroll Hufstedler, 80, of Little Rock, died Aug. 1, 2012.

Born May 14, 1932, in Alicia, he was the son of Albert Lee and Beulah Ellen Foley Hufstedler. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda June Hufstedler.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Hufstedler, Randy Hufstedler and Stan Hufstedler; four grandchildren, Dawn, Tami, Amy and Zac; and four great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Strangers Home Cemetery under the direction of Arkansas Funeral Care of Jacksonville.

Twilla Jean Jones Metheny, 76, of Tuckerman, mother of Sandra Cook of Walnut Ridge and sister of Luril Ray Cason of Smithville, died Aug. 4, 2012, in Jonesboro. Burial was Monday in Gracelawn Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Linda Sue Perez

Linda Sue Poe Perez, 69, of Elwood, Ind., died July 30, 2012, at her home.

Born Nov. 25, 1942, in Hoxie, she was retired from Kmart in Elwood.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Poe; her mother, Ina Weir Poe; a sister, Alleta Buster; her in-laws, Joe Sr. and Julia Perez; a sister-in-law, Linda Simison; and three brothers-in-law, Bill Bilbrey, Roy Jeske and Tony Perez.

Survivors include her husband, Florencio "Smoke" Perez, whom she married Jan. 8, 1961; two daughters, Angie Perez and Marianne Blackburn, both of Elwood, Ind.; a son, Michael Perez and wife Teresa, Elwood; a sister, Shirley Bilbrey, Fredricksburg, Va.; a brother, Harold "Pepper" Poe, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, Bill Buster, Union City, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Esther Jeske, Elwood, and Judy Perez; two brothers-in-law, Joe Perez Jr. and wife Doris, Biloxi, Miss., and Robert Perez and wife Judie, Marion, Ind.; and five granddaughters, Hillary Anne Perez, Allison Marie Perez, Meredith Leigh Blackburn, Olivia Mae Withycombe and Taylor Lynn Marie Hembree.

Funeral was Friday at 1 p.m. at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, Ind., with Rev. Rebecca Nickel officiaiting. The body was cremated.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

Raymond C. Smith

Raymond Cornelius Smith, 79, of Imboden, died Aug. 4, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born May 29, 1933, in the Denton community, he was the son of Grundy and Nellie McLeod Smith. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a retired maintenance man for Cotta Transmission in Rockford, Ill., and a member of First Baptist Church in Imboden.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Smith; three sons, Raymond Smith and wife Kim, Machesney Park, Ill., and Brian Smith and wife Rose and Darryl Smith and wife Kim, all of Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Rhonda Sedols and husband Dan, Rockford, and Renee Montgomery and husband Mark, Rutland, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral is Friday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Imboden with Bros. Tommy Medley and Harold Russell officiating. Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery, near Denton, under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home of Imboden.

Pallbearers will be Mark Smith, Austin Marley, Tracy Jones, Jeremy Smith, Brock Wheeler and Lindsey Sedols.

Visitation is Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Imboden.

William Lee Stayton

William Lee "Bill" Stayton, 73, of Walnut Ridge, died Aug. 6, 2012, at his home.

Born April 12, 1939, in Light, he lived in Lawrence County most of his life and was retired from Vulcan Corporation. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 423 and was of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Juanita Brown Stayton; two brothers; two sisters; and a very special uncle, Cleo Wyatt Stayton.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Carmen Stayton; two sons, William Shayne Stayton, West Fork, and Benny Lee Stayton, Elkins; five sisters, Mary Langston, Gentry, Geraldine Gatewood, Lauratown, Dora Martin, Sulphur Springs, Carol Hankins, Siloam Springs, and Wanda Deacons, Prior, Okla.; three brothers, Jim Stayton and Tom Stayton, both of Gentry, and Eddie Stayton, Rogers; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home.

Lera Stokes

Lera Imogene Abbott Stokes, 84, of West Memphis, formerly of Imboden, died Aug. 4, 2012.

Born Aug. 28, 1927, in Cabot, she was the daughter of Hoyt Malcolm Abbott and Lena Belle Burrows. She worked for the Arkansas Baptist State Convention for over 30 years until retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Howard Stokes; three sisters, Martha Jewel Lester, Pearlie Marie Abbott and Dorothy Mae Jones; and two brothers, Herbert Dean Abbott and Walter Hoyt Abbott.

Survivors include five nieces, Lisa Camp, Becc Lester-Rodel, Patty Abbott, Sarah Abbott and Pam Pfahning; three nephews, Steve McPherson, Jerry McPherson and Kelly Abbott; and a great-nephew, Cameron, whom she considered a grandson.

Graveside service is today at 10 a.m. at Hope Cemetery in Imboden under the direction of Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis.

Flossie Mae Williams

Flossie Mae Williams, 96, of Jonesboro, died Aug. 5, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born June 2, 1916, in Wirth, she was the daughter of Frank and Dona King Perry. She lived most of her life in Walnut Ridge, before moving to Jonesboro recently. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Williams, whom she married Jan. 8, 1935, in Powhatan; a brother, Clifford Perry; and a sister, Hazel Robins.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Garland Roberts, Walnut Ridge; a brother, Clayton Perry, Ventura, Calif.; two sisters, Snoda Corbett, Walnut Ridge, and Bessie Dotson, Poughkeepsie; a granddaughter, Carol Garland Colclasure; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be John Colclasure, Derek Doyle, Jeff Potts, David Brittingham, Caleb Potts and Craig Williams.

Visitation is today from noon until 2 p.m.

Edwin Wynn

Edwin C. "The Lawnmower Man" Wynn, 79, of Machesney Park, Ill., died July 31, 2012.

Born Sept. 25, 1932, in Sedgwick, he was the son of Tramel and Effie May Lawson Wynn. He was a U.S. Army veteran and the owner of Wynn's Small Engines. He retired from Gunite Foundry in July 1985 after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Talmadge Wynn, Cleveland Wynn and Tommy Wynn; and a sister, Willie den Wynn.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Coffman Wynn, whom he married Dec. 26, 1985, in Rockford, Ill.; three sons, Michael Wynn, John Wynn and Robin Wynn; three sisters, Melvie Gardener and husband Marion, Rector, Echel Baker and husband Oscar, and Velma Doyle; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday at 11 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home in Machesney Park, Ill. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
