Hoxie offers site for dancesThe Hoxie City Council recently approved a request from Carolyn Polk to make the Hoxie Service Center available for a weekly senior citizens dance on Thursday evenings. Mayor Lanny Tinker said the council approved the use of the building, and it will now be up to Polk to organize and announce the events. After a mid-year review of financial information, the council voted to not award any raises at this time. "We are stable and we are living within our budget, but there are still a lot of things that could fluctuate," Tinker said following the July 31 special meeting. "We will look at raises again for the 2013 budget." The council also received an update on a request from Sonny Anglin to rezone property he owns to be commercial. Tinker informed the council that the map had not been updated, but that the property had already been rezoned in the past, so there was no action to be taken. In other business, the council:
