Stuff the Bus aids students
Students of the Hoxie and Walnut Ridge Schools will benefit from the donations of many patrons who contributed to the Stuff the Bus project on Saturday at the Walnut Ridge Walmart.
Faculty and staff from the two schools took shifts on Saturday to collect the school supplies and donations for Stuff the Bus, a project coordinated by United Way of Northeast Arkansas.
Over 1,500 items, as well as cash donations, were collected and divided equally between the two schools.
Spokespersons from each school expressed their gratitude for the school supplies, which will be given to disadvantaged students.
"The Hoxie School District would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made the 2012 Stuff the Bus Campaign a success," said Katie Compton of the Hoxie Elementary faculty.
Kelly Rider, Walnut Ridge Elementary counselor, was grateful that approximately 10 backpacks are already filled and waiting to be given out to students in need.
