BEGINNING WITH THE BASICS - Summer practice has begun for the Walnut Ridge High School PRIDE Band. On Tuesday morning, director John Long (foreground) was leading drills on marching fundamentals. Miscanthus could have
important role in NEA's future

Miscanthus, a crop that is new to Lawrence County and Northeast Arkansas, could be important to the area's economic future. It is important because the crop can provide an alternative and renewable fuel source, according to Tim Wooldridge of Paragould, area manager in Northeast Arkansas for MFA Oil Biomass.

Man arrested after bank robbery

On July 20, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department arrested Randall Morris, 36, of Ravenden for commercial burglary and theft of property.
