Matt Watts and Katie Hale, both of Walnut Ridge, have announced the birth of a daughter, born on June 25, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould.

The baby weighed seven pounds, six ounces, and has been named Adyson Blare Watts.

Grandparents are Jimmy and Chrystal Watts of Walnut Ridge, Toni Worsham of Walcott and the late Shane Hale.

Gilley ~ Stolz

Danny and Jimmie Sue Gilley of Yellville have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Grace Gilley of Yellville to Shane Stolz of Walnut Ridge. Shane is the son of Steve Stolz of Springfield, Mo., and Joy Tomlinson of Harrison.

The bride-elect is a 2012 graduate of Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge and has a bachelor's degree in Christian ministries. She is employed by WBC as the assistant director of campus ministries.

The prospective groom is a 2009 graduate of Williams Baptist College and has a bachelor's degree in business administration. He is employed by Williams as the head soccer coach and sports information director.

The couple will exchange wedding vows on July 27 at New Hope Baptist Church in Yellville. All friends and family are invited to attend.

Weaver ~ Griggry

Monty and Doris Weaver of Hoxie have announced the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Tabitha LeighAnn Weaver, to Matthew Gregg Griggry, son of Irene Griggry of Paragould and the late Gregg Griggry.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Nadine Weaver of Walnut Ridge and the late Cleo Weaver, and Bud Jones of Hoxie and the late Hazel Jones.

She is a 2007 graduate of Hoxie High School.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late J.Z. and June Griggry, and the late Leo and Arlene Slatton.

He is a 2003 graduate of Greene County Tech High School.

The couple will exchange vows on Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Hoxie Church of Christ.

Following the ceremony a reception will be held in the fellowship building at the church. All family and friends are invited to attend.

Nola Evelyn Bristol

Nola Evelyn Bristol, 74, of Walnut Ridge, died July 16, 2012.

Born June 24, 1937, in Walnut Ridge, she was the daughter of Ervin and Alpha Rosselot Holder. She was a factory worker and was of the Assembly of God faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Bristol, on May 4, 2006, whom she married April 17, 1954; two brothers, Lloyd Holder and Noel Holder; and two sisters, Lorene Blackwell and Mary McCullison.

Survivors include a son, William Charles Bristol, Rockford, Ill.; two daughters, Denise Bennett, Reedsburg, Wis., and Tammy Burch, Indianapolis; three brothes, Charles Holder and Chestine Holder, both of Walnut Ridge, and L.T. Holder, Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Bernice Brown, Independence, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is Thursday at 2 p.m. at Jones Ridge Cemetery, near Delaplaine, with Bro. Faris Paxton officiating. Bryan Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be William Bristol, Matthew Burch, Archer Jones, Barry Holder, Eric Holder and Faris Paxton.

Visitation is Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home.

Eason Dewon Brown

Eason Dewon Brown, 37, of McNeil, died July 13, 2012.

Born Dec. 29, 1974, in Decatur, Ala., he was the owner and operator of the Jordan Utility Company.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Macom Scott and Freelin Foley.

Survivors include his wife, Ann McNew Brown, whom he married Aug. 24, 2007; a daughter, Jordan Katelin Brown, Jonesboro; a son, Tagan William Vandiver, Decatur, Ala.; his mother, Jeannie Foley, Jonesboro; his father, Alan Scott, McNeil; a sister, Ashley Caitlin Brown Gonzalez, Jonesboro; his adopted father, Ronald Brown, Decatur, Ala.; his grandmothers, June Foley, Jonesboro, and Jean Scott, Decatur, Ala.; and a grandson, Jayden Brown.

Funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Scotty Karner officiating. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Nick Fougerousse, David Wooldridge, Jerry Byerly, Jim Wilson, Brandon Maxwell Brannon, Jamie Cline and Brad Cline.

Cindy Combs

Cindy Combs, 52, of Walnut Ridge, died July 14, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 6, 1959, in Newport, she had lived in West Memphis before moving to Walnut Ridge in 1979. She worked for Skil Corporation.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Combs; a daughter, Starla Frank and husband Jeremy, Walnut Ridge; her parents, Don and Shirley Malish, West Memphis; two brothers, Marvel Headrick, Tennessee, and Bobby Malish, Huntsville, Ala.

Funeral was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Forest Cemetery at Black Rock.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Frank, Marvin Combs, Richard Alls, Steven Virgin, Jerry Williams and James Puckett.

Carolyn Sue Dillingham

Carolyn Sue Dillingham, 79, of Pocahontas, died July 16, 2012, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born April 13, 1933, in Sedgwick, she was the daughter of Paul and Mary Smith Graham. She lived in Indiana before moving to Pocahontas in 1984. She was a manager for KFC for many years and was of the Church of Christ faith.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.D. Graham and Buddy Graham.

Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Doyl Dillingham; a son Doyle Ray Dillingham Jr. and wife Jan, Ravenden Springs; a brother, Talmadge Graham, Heber Springs; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Powers, Walnut Ridge, and Kay Phillips, Alabama; and a grandson, Justin Dillingham.

Funeral is Thursday at 10 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Don House officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas.

Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Walnut Ridge.

Veda Sue Justus

Veda Sue Sammons Justus, age 77, of Hot Springs, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at her home.

Mrs. Justus was born Nov. 29, 1934, at Walnut Ridge, the daughter of Sam and Edna Sammons. She excelled at homemaking, with sewing and cooking being her personal ministry of love. She was a member of the National Park Church in Hot Springs and the Bethsadia Church of Christ in Amity, where her husband preaches.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Justus; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Ann Justus of Grenada, Miss.; a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Dolores Justus of Hot Springs; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mac and Ernestine Justus of Hot Springs; a brother, Tommy Sammons of Lake Forest, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Cecil and Ella Rorex of San Antonio; a sister and brother-in-law, Don and Ouida Payne of St. Ann, Mo.; five grandchildren, Adam, Nicholas and Ryan Justus of Mississippi; and Jared and Will Justus of Hot Springs; and additional family and countless friends.

Funeral is today at 10 a.m., at Davis-Smith Funeral Home in Hot Springs. She will be laid to rest at the Arkansas State Veterans' Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Pallbearers will be Mark Clark, Darrell Franklin, Kyle Hatfield, Bobby Justus, Mac Justus and John Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are Preston Clark, Harrell Justus, Bruce Payne, Steve Payne, Dennis Poe, Ray Poe, Sam Poe, Doug Rorex, Jeff Rorex, David Sammons, Glendon Sammons, Greg Sammons and John Sammons.

James Eugene Lantz

James Eugene "Jim" (Glenn) Lantz was born March 31, 1947, to Brooks Vaughn Glenn and Margie Lantz of Lynn. His life was made complete on this earth on Monday, July 9, 2012, at the age of 65, and is now perfectly complete and healed in Jesus Christ.

He was blessed with a large circle of love in a big family who celebrates life as the awesome gift that it is. Jim had a big sense of humor and assuring bright blue eyes. He was a devoted husband, fun dad and supportive papaw, a trusted father-in-law, special son, and very loved brother, nephew, grandson and friend.

He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards with the boys, motorcycle and four-wheeler riding, dirt track racing, building, music, truck driving, church and family. He responded in love to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and believed in the friendship, comfort and love of God above all. His positive attitude in the face of many exhausting health trials changed many lives. He believed God "took his mess and made it his message," and that he did. He will be incredibly missed.

Jim is preceded in death by his grandmother, Marie Maney of Powhatan; and brothers, Jason Bennett and Larry Glenn.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Alla Mae Lantz, of the home; daughters Trish Chandler and son-in-law Jeff; Sophie Holland and son-in-law Shannon; Becky Burns and son-in-law Danny, all of Jonesboro; sons, James David Lantz; Samuel Lantz and daughter-in-law Shannon of Jonesboro; and Phillip Lantz of Chicago.

The sparkle in his eye was 11 grandchildren, Joshua Lantz, Adam Lantz, Josie Chandler, Legend Chandler, Blake Self, Clay Holland, Jackson Holland, Tyler Burns, Rhett Burns, Suzannah Lantz and Presley Lantz.

He is also survived by sisters Ruthann Nunnally-McGlothin of Bono, Margaret Smith (Van) of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Lanell King (Tommy) of Lynn, and Nona Dunlap (Terry) of Mississippi. Jim is also survived by brothers, Rick Lantz and Danny Hugg of Strawberry, Wayne Hugg of Jonesboro, and Kenny Bennett of Searcy. Many other wonderful relatives, including stepbrothers and a stepsister, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jeff Chandler officiating. Burial was private.

Richard Allen Myers

Richard Allen "Rick" Myers, 50, of Walnut Ridge, died July 14, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 14, 1961, in Pomona, Calif., he had been a truck driver for Walmart for 18 years and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was also a pilot.

He was preceded in death by his father, W.L. "Bud" Myers.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Myers; a son, Michael Yingling; five daughters, Jeannie Sanchez and husband Fernando, Brea Myers, Danika Myers, Madison Yingling and Kahlan Yingling; his mother, Ruby Myers, Lorado; four brothers, Bill Ernst and wife Sarah, Cotter, Mike Ernst, Flippin, Steve Ernst and wife Nan, Reston, Va., and Don Ernst and wife Patti, Little Rock; and a sister, Mary Ann Eason and husband Carlos, Lorado.

Funeral is today at noon at Phillips Funeral Home in Paragould with Marion and Nathan Gramling officiating. Burial will be in Lorado Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Barry Williams, Jimmy Bales, Jeff Freeman, Jim Eason, Danny Andrews and David Klingensmith. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Nutt, Rex Woodhouse, Donnie Dunn and Billy Joe Foster.

Mabel Owens

Martha Mabel Owens, 86, of Trumann, died July 10, 2012, at her home.

Born Aug. 1, 1925, at Alicia, she was the daughter of John and Willie Hunt. She was a homemaker and a member of the Word of Life Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Owens; a daughter, Bonnie Owens; two sisters; two brothers; and a grandchild, Michael Willbanks.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Willbanks; a son, James Owens; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

A celebration of her life was held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Heath Colonial Chapel with Bro. Larry Tribble officiating. Burial was in Epsaba Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Josh Owens, John Owens, Daniel Owens, David Owens, Charlie McKinney and Ray Guthrie. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Art Frazier and Bobby Meredith.

Bryan E. White

Bryan E. White, 49, of Strawberry, died June 30, 2012, at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Born in Clovis, N.M., he lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Alabama and Black Rock before moving to Strawberry four years ago. He was a poultry grower and a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Smithville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Susan Hargrow White.

Survivors include four daughters, Rose Ludeman, Kansas City, Kan., Amanda Bledsoe, Independence, Mo., and Melissa White and Shilah White, both of Strawberry; two sons, Michael Collins, Lebanon, and Bryan White Jr., Washington; two sisters, Elizabeth Strickland, Jonesboro, and Pamela Ray, York, Ala.; and nine grandchildren.

All services and burial were private. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro had charge of arrangements.
