Carson signs with WBCZach Carson, a 2012 graduate of Walnut Ridge High School, has signed a commitment to play baseball at Williams Baptist College. The former Bobcat star signed his commitment with Williams head coach Frank Lee on June 26 on the WBC campus. Carson becomes the sixth signee for the 2012 Eagles baseball squad. Carson was a pitcher and played outfield for WRHS. On the mound, he compiled a 21-6 record and registered 135 strikeouts in his career for the Bobcats. He led the team in strikeouts the past two seasons. "Zach's fastball has been clocked at 82 m.p.h. and he is only going to get stronger. With some work on his off-speed pitches, he could be a very good player for the Eagles," said Walnut Ridge head coach Derek Bramlett. "Zach has a very good upside for WBC. He is a hard worker, with a good attitude and is very coachable. I look for him to have a very good career at Williams," added Bramlett. Carson is the son of Mark and Melissa Phillips of Jonesboro and Derek and Lori Carson of Walnut Ridge.
