Tegan Nicole Gonzalez

Jamie Gonzalez and Lyndsey Coats, both of Jonesboro, have announced the birth of a daughter, born on June 26, 2012, at St. Bernard's Birthcare Center in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces, and has been named Tegan Nicole Gonzalez. She has two siblings, a brother, Will, and a sister, Jalyn Michelle.

Grandparents are Ronnie Coats of Hoxie, Tracy Coats and Naomi Gibson, both of Jonesboro, and Mike and Sandy Gonzalez of Carlsbad, N.M.

Great-grandparents are Lucille Morris and Butch Watkins, both of Walnut Ridge, Birdie and Marion Johnson of Jonesboro and John and Lala Mendez of Carlsbad, N.M.

Marie Ward of Walnut Ridge is the great-great-grandmother.

Emma Grace Marie Olson

Jonathan and Stephanie Lynn Olson of Ash Flat have announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, born on June 25, 2012, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro.

The baby weighed six pounds, 13 ounces, and has been named Emma Grace Marie Olson.

Grandparents are Charles and Audrey Olson of Russellville, Becky Glidewell of Black Rock and Garry Bagwell of Ash Flat.

Great-grandparents are Wanda Ragsdale and Tommy Goza, both of Black Rock, Ruthie Gibbons of Raveden and Ella Benshoff of Ottawa, Ohio.

Opal Marie Goza of Black Rock is the great-great-grandmother.

Helen Montine Bailey

Helen Montine Bailey, 91, of Walnut Ridge, died June 29, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 17, 1920, near Light, she was the daughter of Lawrence O. and Erma Cook Allen. She was a homemaker and a member of the Faith of the Apostles Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd Bailey; and four sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Cleatus Bailey, Millstadt, Ill., and Harold Bailey, Hoxie; three daughters, Corene Allen, Hoxie, and Elaine Walker and Evelyn Walker, both of Paragould; a sister, Geraldine Austin, Paragould; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with pastor David Morse and John Bailey officiating. Burial was in Warm Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Allen, Steven Allen, Ronnie Ewing, Cody Treadaway, Jim Bailey and John Bailey.

Lettie Clinton Brannon

Lettie Clinton Brannon, 96, of Lynn, died June 26, 2012, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born Feb. 27, 1916, in Lynn, she was the daughter of William and Martha Justus Clinton. She was a lifelong resident of Lawrence County, a farmer and a member of the United Methodist Church in Lynn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jewel Brannon, in 1983; two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Kemp and husband Jerry, Batesville; a son, Tommy Brannon and wife Cordella, North Little Rock; and two grandchildren, Penny Penn and Jill Brannon.

Graveside service was Friday at 10 a.m. at Old Lebanon Cemetery, near Eaton, with Michael Bolding officiating. House-Gregg Funeral Home of Lynn had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jerry Ward, Pat Clinton, Charles Penn, Nathan Howard, Randy Glenn and David Glenn. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Clinton, David Stuart, Gardner Clinton and Bobby Ward.

Memorials may be made to the Lynn United Methodist Church or to Old Lebanon Cemetery.

Aline Brewer

Aline Kinder Brewer, 71, of Swifton, died June 25, 2012, at Jonesboro.

Born Aug. 20, 1940, at Swifton, she was a member of Murphy's Chapel Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl C. Brewer; her parents, E.B. and Eula Nelson Kinder; two brothers, Ray Kinder and Carl Kinder; and five sisters, Ruby Benson, Lola Mae Kinder, Joyce Kinder, Alma Benson and Lois Self.

Survivors include a brother, Joe Kinder and wife Linda, Swifton; two sisters, Pauline Calhoun and husband E.E., Swifton, and Faye Keaster and husband Eunice, Dierks; a stepdaughter, Patty Goza, Cash; a brother-in-law, Jack Benson; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Kinder.

Funeral was Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Swifton First Assembly of God Church. Burial was in Arnold Cemetery under the direction of Jackson's Newport Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Anthony Decker, Jeramy Johnson, Keith Keller, Preston Floyd, Chuck Burham and Tim Shelton. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Kellar, Steve Birmingham, Steve Henderson, Rusty Kinder, Tony Kinder, Maston Kinder, Ronnie Brock, Bobby Wisenhut, Shannon Smith and Charles Kinder.

Sarah Ellen Defries

Mrs. Sarah Ellen (Malone) Defries, 92, of Judsonia, departed this life on Saturday, June 30, 2012.

She was born December 2, 1919, at Tuckerman, the daughter of Henry Duffy and Lillie Mae (Sorenson) Malone.

Mrs. Defries was retired from the Newport Public School system, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Olyphant Church of Christ, and enjoyed gardening, canning and dancing.

Mrs. Defries was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Edward Defries; three children, Cathy LeMay, Billy Joe Davis and Albert Ray Davis; three brothers, David Edwin Malone, John Henry Malone and Ira Wayne Malone; and two sisters, Ruth Adeline Woodruff and Dorothy Juanita Greenfield.

She is survived by one son, Howard E. Davis and wife Norma L. of Sherwood; one daughter-in-law, Linda Davis of Bradford; one stepson, Gary Wayne Defries and wife Murl of Hoxie; one stepdaughter, Rubie Lee Williams of Pocahontas; one brother, William Paul Malone of Tuckerman; two sisters, Betty Jo Glueckert of Newport, and Opal Jane Rich of Albany, Ga.; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Tuesday at 9 a.m. at Jackson's Newport Funeral Home. Burial was in Coffeyville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Larry Davis, Michael Davis, Johnathan Davis, Robert Defries, Darren Defries and Richard Davis. Dustin Davis served as honorary pallbearer.

Betty Jo Gore

Betty Jo Gore, 87, of Portia, died June 26, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 19, 1924, in Pryor, Okla., she was the daughter of Sime and Maggie Elizabeth Rowe Mayes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Mayes, Hillis Mayes and Paul Mayes; and a sister, Mary Lyell.

Survivors include her husband, Mack E. Gore, whom she married March 20, 1945; a son, Michael Gore and wife Peggy, Choctaw, Okla.; three daughters, Glenda Richardson and husband Larry, Pocahontas, Carolyn Woehl and husband Fred, Harrison, and Becky Brann and fiancˇ Jeff Spencer, Swifton; a sister, Pauline Kleine, Riverside, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a good neighbor, Vera.

Funeral was Friday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Hughart officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Jeremiah Woehl, Chris Gore, Todd Gore, Mark Pharr, Mack Pharr, Don Berrier and Myles McCullough. Honorary pallbearers were Ashton Brann, Stephanie McCullough and Mischelle Berrier.

Mary Francis Harmon

Mary Francis Harmon, 86, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Walnut Ridge, died June 26, 2012, at the Akron General Medical Center.

Born Feb. 13, 1926, in Vina, Ala., she was the daughter of Charles Franklin and Arka Chambers Armstrong. She had lived in Michigan before moving to the Walnut Ridge area in 1976. She was a homemaker and a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge before moving to Akron five years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Harmon; a daughter, Rebecca Harmon; two sisters, Wilma Hale and Kathleen Armstrong; and three brothers, Charles Armstrong, Thomas Armstrong and Larry Armstrong.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan Burns, Canton, Ohio, Linda Schmidt and husband Steve, Macomb, Mich., and Karen Lawrence, Walnut Ridge; a son, Robert Harmon, Mountain Home; two sisters, Wilodene Farmer and husband A.J., Walnut Ridge, and Pamela Smith, Dearborn Heights, Mich.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 11 a.m. at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Derek Collins officiating. Burial was in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Steve Schmidt, Jonathan Lawrence, Tim Farmer, Josh Farmer, A.J. Farmer, Greg Smith and Butch Lawrence.

Harold Hayes Sr.

Harold Hayes Sr., 92, of Hoxie, died June 27, 2012, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center.

Born April 20, 1920, in Walnut Ridge, he was the son of Robert and Clydia Helms Hayes. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a factory worker. He was of the Church of Christ belief.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Hayes; two daughters, Carolyn Weatherby and Brenda Grap; a brother; and five sisters.

Survivors include four sons, Jimmy Hayes and Harold Hayes Jr., both of Hoxie; Bennie Hayes, Mississippi, and Lloyd Hayes, Walnut Ridge; three daughters, Kathy Merchant, Rockford, Ill., Cristie Teel, Hoxie, and Cynthia Batterton, Pocahontas; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with A.J. Stracener officiating. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Nathan Hayes, Joshua Hayes, Jerry Price, Randy Price, Kevin Hayes and Kenny Hayes.

Mary Lee McCall

Mary Lee "Dena" McCall, 82, of Walnut Ridge, died July 2, 2012, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould.

Born April 17, 1930, she was the daughter of Louis and Mary Lou Jeanie Garrett Hopkins. She was a designer for a florist and a member of the Old Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavoid McCall, on April 21, 1998, whom she married July 12, 1947.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie McCall Abicht and husband Fred, Westland, Mich., and Cindy McCall Hruska and husband Bob, Livonia, Mich.; two sons, Jerry McCall and wife Sharon, Mammoth Spring, and Bob McCall and wife Susan, Livonia, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Erica, Michael, Aaron, Andrew, Patrick and Sharon; seven great-grandchildren; and a companion, Bobbie Long.

Funeral is Friday at 11 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park.

Visitation was set for Thursday from 6-8 p.m.

Barbara Murphy

Barbara Ann Murphy, 75, of Maynard, died June 28, 2012, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Born May 4, 1937, in Cash, she was a homemaker and a member of the Faith Assembly Church in Walnut Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Murphy; her parents, William "Bill" and Lucy Whitewell Orr; a brother and a sister.

Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Hodge, Walnut Ridge, Rebecca Pratt, Maynard, and Teresa Douglas, Fairdealing, Mo.; a son, Mitchell Murphy, Elizabethtown, Ky.; six sisters; a brother; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was Monday at 10 a.m. at Bryan Funeral Home with Sister Betty Williams officiating. Burial was in Old Military Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tyler Henson, Colton Riggs, Gunner Riggs, Jericho Maronde, Jaspor Murphy and Austin Gibson. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Riggs, Scott Bass, Buddy Gibson and Jessie Murphy.

Sue Bacon Norman

Sue Bacon Norman, 68, of Strawberry, died June 26, 2012, at her home.

Born March 18, 1944, at Cave City, she was a homemaker. She was a cross-country truck driver with her husband for 17 years for Arnold Trucking Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Samuel and Audie Esther Girtman Bacon; and an infant brother, Paul Bacon.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Aris Ray Norman; a son, Bob Norman, Batesville; a daughter, Robin Qualls, Stawberry; three brothers, James Bacon, Little Rock, Dale Bacon, Bryant, and Billy Wayne Bacon, Cave City; three grandchildren, Lisa Norman, Crystal Richey and Heather Duvall; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Friday at 2 p.m. at Qualls Funeral Home in Cave City with Bro. John Bacon officiating. Burial was in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry. Pallbearers were Michael Bacon, Tommy Bacon, Elliott Cotton, Jonathan Bacon, Michael Norman and Justin Saffell. Honorary pallbearers were Elijah Ritchey, Grace Ritchey and Vincent Duvall.

Tressie Ella Ring

Tressie Ella Ring, 84, of Pocahontas, died June 26, 2012, at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas.

Born Dec. 8, 1927, at Stanford, she was the daughter of John Henry and Iona May Shoemaker Witcher. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church near Searcy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eldon Ring, whom she married Aug. 31, 1946; three sisters, Marcella, Selma and Tester; and four brothers, Bill, Herschel, Tom and Travis.

Survivors include five daughters, Vicky Palazzola, Linda Allee and Judy Hogg, all of Missouri, Janet Frier, Arkansas, and Caryl Jones, Indiana; two sons, Jerry Ring, Missouri, and Bill Ring, Arkansas; a sister, Ann King, Ohio; two brothers, James Witcher, Arkansas, and Dallas Witcher, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was Saturday at 10 a.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge with Chris Powers officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Walcott.

Pallbearers were Vicky Palazzola, Caryl Jones, Linda Allee, Janet Frier, Judy Hogg, Bill Ring, Jessie Needham and Trina Stephenson.
