Man dies after
tree falls on him

A Lawrence County man lost his life on Monday after a tree he was cutting on County Road 273 fell on him.

First responders from both the Smithville and Lynn fire departments responded after Eddie Russell, 61, of Lynn, called 911 at 10:56 a.m. and reported that he was bleeding and was trapped by the tree.

Russell was transported by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by paramedics with AET Ambulance and Air Evac. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the House-Gregg Chapel. Funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Lynn Churh of Christ with burial in Dry Creek Cemetery,
