BR couple killed in accident
A one-vehicle accident on Saturday at 12:20 p.m. resulted in the death of a Black Rock couple, according to Trooper Daniel Riley with the Arkansas State Police.
Jerry Moore, 70, and Donna Moore, 66, were traveling southbound on Highway 67, just south of Swifton, when their 2007 Ford Expedition left the roadway.
The vehicle then came back onto the road and went out of control, rotating counter-clockwise across both traffic lanes, flipped over and rolled into the ditch.
Donna was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. Jerry was airlifted to The Med in Memphis where he died later that day.
Also in the vehicle were Eli Richey, seven months, and Brian Richey, four, both of whom were in child seats. They were taken to Harris Hospital in Newport.
Jerry was a member of the Lawrence County Mounted Patrol, and Donna was a longtime 4-H leader. The Lawrence County Courthouse will close on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to noon for the funeral, which will be at 10 a.m. at the Hoxie Church of Christ.
