Portia Picnic
begins
Tuesday
The 107th annual Portia Picnic will begin Tuesday and continue through Saturday, June 30, with armbands every night.
Armbands are on sale at Portia City Hall for $15 each. Beginning Tuesday, the city hall will be open with extended hours from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. After 5:30 p.m., armbands can be purchased at the picnic for $17.
Entertainment will include music and a light show at the pavilion on Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m., hosted by Party Time Productions, and performances by the Delta Fusion & Gateway Cloggers from Dance Tyme Studio on Thursday, June 28, from 7-8 p.m.
A karaoke contest, sponsored by Rick Story, will be held on Friday, June 29, from 7-9 p.m., with registration from 6-7 p.m. The first 25 contestants are eligible to participate and must be 16 or older. No entry fee is required and top prize is $50, sponsored by Lauren Richmond Music.
Entertainment on Saturday, June 30, will include the baby show from 5-6:30 p.m. and performances by Lauren Richmond and Rick Story.
The baby show will be held for ages newborn through 12 months, and is free to participate in. Registration will be held from 4-5 p.m.
In addition, the festival committee is encouraging groups to sponsor booths to benefit their individual organizations. Crafters are also invited to set up and showcase their products. Groups or crafters who wish to do a booth may contact Wanda Dunlap at 886-7897.
