Ellington wins primary run-off
Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington secured the Democratic nomination for the First Congressional District seat in Tuesday's run-off election against Clark M. Hall.
Ellington garnered 51 percent of the vote district-wide, compared to Hall's 49 percent.
Locally, Lawrence County voters cast 155 votes for Ellington (52 percent) and 141 votes for Hall (48 percent).

Airport receives $529,317 grant
U.S. Senators Mark Pryor and John Boozman recently joined Congressman Rick Crawford in announcing the Walnut Ridge Regional Airport will receive a $529,317 grant to rehabilitate its existing taxi way and ramp, which have reached the end of useful life according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Plans evolve to fund
Pending approval of a resolution by the Walnut Ridge City Council at last night's meeting, plans have come together for funding an improved swimming park, to include a splash pad, at the present city pool, announced Mayor Don House.

DeAnna Lewis of Smithville is making preparations for her first Summer Reading Program as the new children's librarian at the Lawrence County Library .
The Lawrence County Quorum Court voted to give a $200 bonus to all county employee and elected officials at its meeting on Monday night.
Jail-N-Bail nets $5,000 for CMN
A Jail-N-Bail fund-raising event, hosted by Walmart in Walnut Ridge on June 2, far exceeded expectations, raising $5,000, according to Manager Kari Shanks.
