Early voting period set for run-off

Early voting in a run-off election for the Democratic nomination for the First Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives will begin on Tuesday.

Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington received the most votes, 27,886 in the three-man race, but finished with 49.52 percent of the vote, shy of the required 50 percent.

He will face Clark M. Hall in the runoff. Hall received 21,832 votes (38.77 percent).

The winner of the June 12 run-off election will face Republican incumbent Rick Crawford in the November General Election.

Early voting will be offered from 8-4:30 p.m. on weekdays through Monday, June 11. All polling sites in the county will be open on June 12 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for voters to cast their ballots.
