Clover Bend Reunion this weekend
The annual Clover Bend reunion will be held during the Memorial Day weekend.
The reunion will kick off with a Clover Bend vs. Lynn basketball game on Friday, beginning at 5 p.m., in the newly refurbished gym. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for children six to 12, and free for children younger than six.
Charles Kirkpatrick, who was coach at Clover Bend School from 1950-52, and former coaches, athletes, cheerleaders and students will be recognized at the game.
Also, Clover Bend Historic Preservation Board President Viola Meadows will honor DeLois Jones and Wendel Jones on Friday night.
A beans and cornbread supper will be served after the game, beginning at 7 p.m. Door prizes and entertainment will be provided.
An auction will also be held, and will be conducted by auctioneer Frog Light.
Saturday's events will begin with a ringing of the school's bell at 10 a.m., followed by the presentation of colors. A stone will also be dedicated in honor of the 1962 graduating class.
After the opening ceremony at the Alice French Bell Pavilion singing and a memorial service will be held in the auditorium, featuring remarks by Meadows and guest speaker Senator Robert Thompson. Fifty-year club certificates will be presented, followed by a balloon release.
Lunch will be served after the balloon release, and the afternoon will be open for visiting and touring the historic site.
