City discusses trade,
Midway Road repairs

Midway Road will soon receive much-needed repairs and attorneys are working with the municipal league to ensure the trade of a city-owned helicopter for a twin-engine plane is put into compliance with laws that regulate such matters. The Walnut Ridge City Council voted to allow city attorney Adam Weeks 30 days to seek a resolution to the dilemma.

Hoxie City Council members and Mayor Lanny Tinker discussed progress in efforts to improve Hoxie's appearance at the council meeting on May 8.

The Lawrence County Republican Committee honored John Allen at the annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday for his service to the Republican Party and the community, state and nation.

Improvements made
to airport fuel farm

Walnut Ridge Regional Airport Manager Michelle Anthony was praised by Airport Commission Chairman Dan Coker at the commissioner's meeting on Monday night for her efforts in getting the fuel farm up to standards for military inspectors.

Accident results in fatality

A one-vehicle accident in Jonesboro on Saturday at 10:56 p.m. resulted in the death of a Walnut Ridge woman, according to JPD officer Jamie Seaborn.
