Hoxie's Coffell breaks record
during 3A State Track Meet

Hoxie's Krista Coffell completes a pole vault at the height of 10 feet, five inches during the Class 3A State Track meet. She went on to win the event with a 10-foot, six-inch vault, which is now the state record.

Several athletes from Hoxie High School competed in the 3A State Track Meet on Thursday at Prescott.

Krista Coffell set a new state record for 3A girls in the pole vault, going 10'6", breaking the old record of 10 feet. Coffell was also second in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump.

Cayley Wagoner placed sixth in girls pole vault with an effort of 8'6".

Jacob Henson, Mack Morris and Eric Moore competed in the boys pole vault.

Austin Williams, Chad Rutledge, Quentin Smith and Cole Sears competed in the boys 4x800 meter relay.

District meet

The Mustang track teams competed in the 3A-3 District Track Meet at Earle recently.


Coffell won first place in all six of her events to win high-point honors with 60 total points.

Coffell's victories came in the pole vault (11'8"), the triple jump (33'9"), the long jump (15'9"), the high jump (4'10"), the 100-meter hurdles (17.36 seconds) and the 220-meter dash (27.8 seconds).

Wagoner took second in the pole vault with a vault of 9'6".


Hoxie dominated the boys pole vault, with Jacob Henson winning the event with a vault of 12'6". Eric Moore was second (12'0") and Mack Morris placed third (10'6").

Robert Posey placed third in the triple jump (40'9"), fourth in the 100 meters (11.77 seconds), the 200 meters (24.06) and the long jump (19'9").

The team of Devin Roberts, Matt Shimasaki, Tristan Privett and Posey finished third in the 4 x 100-meter relay with a time of 46.1 seconds.

The team of Austin Williams, Chad Rutledge, Quentin Smith and Cole Sears placed second in the 4 x 800-meter relay with a time of 10:24, and took third in the 4 x400-meter relay (4:07).
