Hillcrest boys district runners-up
Hillcrest, Sloan-Hendrix and Black Rock were among the teams competing in the 1A-2 East District Baseball Tournament last week at Brockwell.
The Mammoth Spring Bears scored a run in the top of the seventh to nip Hillcrest 4-3 in the title game on Monday.
Mammoth Spring led 3-1 until the Screamin' Eagles plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to knot the contest at 3-3.
Tyler Parker led Hillcrest at the plate, batting 3-for-4, with an RBI and scoring two runs. Zach Doyle went 1-for-4 and scored a run. Brad Nunnally had two hits, and Colman Evans added one hit for the Eagles.
Parker pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs on four hits, while ringing up five strikeouts.
The Screamin' Eagles were also co-conference champions with Izard County Consolidated.
Sloan-Hendrix defeated Black Rock 11-1 in first-round action on Thursday.
Dillon Pins drove in four runs for the Greyhounds. Eric Hill had two RBIs, while Chris Taylor and Toby Lee added one apiece.
Jordan Johnson batted 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Zach Brown went 2-for-2 and scored twice.
Sam Clem had two hits for the Zebras.
Hillcrest defeated Sloan-Hendrix 15-1 in the next round to advance to the finals.
