Bobcats are district champs
Staff Writer The Walnut Ridge Bobcats edged the Marmaduke Greyhounds 8-6 to claim the championship of the 2A-3 District Baseball Tournament on Saturday at Marked Tree. Baron Estes was the winning pitcher. He allowed two runs on two hits and had five strikeouts in five innings of work. Zach Crisler and Hunter Flippo each went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Walnut Ridge advanced to the title game by defeating East Poinsett County 11-0 in a semifinal contest earlier in the day. Crisler went 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Flippo smashed a two-run home run, and finished with three RBIs. Cole Hicks had a bases-loaded triple, and finished with four RBIs. Rowdy Ditto and Zach Carson had two hits apiece. Range Weeks pitched a five-inning complete game to earn the win. He allowed four hits and struck out five. Next up for Walnut Ridge is the 2A-North Regional Tournament, which will also be hosted by Marked Tree. The Bobcats will play Pangburn on Friday at 5 p.m.
